What if your biggest revenue leak isn't a job you lost, but work you've already completed?

Missing $2,500 on one claim hurts.

Repeat that across 40 jobs and you're looking at $100,000 that could have been tied to work already on your schedule.

O&P, steep slope, code upgrades, detach and reset items, permits and disposal costs can add up quickly when they're missing from the original scope.

Pull your last 10 insurance jobs and run the numbers. You might be surprised by what you find.

Three claims were already on the books. $9,100 was still sitting on the table.

Darius had been handling insurance work for years, but a review of three recent jobs uncovered missed O&P, steep pitch, code upgrades, and an undervalued high-entry cost.

Nine days later, $9,100 in supplements was approved.

No extra jobs. Just making sure the work already performed was accurately accounted for.

You did the work. Make sure you're getting paid for all of it.

What's the most you've ever recovered through supplements in one month?

Here's one roofing expense that's easy to overlook until you're the one paying the bill.

Dumpster rental and haul-away are real costs of a tear-off, and the actual expense can change when you're dealing with multiple layers, additional loads, or job-specific disposal needs.

The question isn't just whether “debris removal” appears on the estimate. It's whether the scope accurately reflects what the job required.

Roofers, we're curious. What are you typically paying for dumpster rental or debris removal in your market?

Drop your state + typical cost below.

Before Breson helped build TotalScope, he was the guy doing the work.

He started on roofing crews, swinging hammers and seeing firsthand what happens when the work required on a job doesn't match what made it onto the insurance scope.

That experience never left.

It's part of how TotalScope approaches every estimate today, understanding the roofer's side of the project, then building the documentation to support it.

Because you did the work. Your scope should reflect it.

You can do everything right on the roof and still lose money on the paperwork.

Great crews, quality installs, and a full schedule only tell part of the story. If the estimate doesn't accurately account for the work required, your margin can disappear before you realize it.

The contractors who scale aren't simply working harder. They're building smarter processes around the work they're already doing.

You did the work. Make sure the scope reflects it.

He tried three other estimating companies. None of them became the partner he needed.

Getting into insurance work comes with a learning curve, and having the right people behind you can make all the difference.

From stronger estimates to responsive communication, this contractor found more than an estimating service with TotalScope. He found a team he could rely on.

That’s the kind of partnership we want every contractor to experience.

Think the busiest part of storm season is already behind you? Don't pack it up yet.

Late summer can still mean serious hail and wind activity, and when jobs start stacking up, details are easy to miss.

Document early. Capture the entire scope. Review the carrier estimate against the work the property actually requires.

Because getting through more jobs only matters if you're protecting the value of every one.

You already earned the job. The question is, did you earn everything the claim should have paid?

Winning the project is only half the battle. If legitimate line items are missing from your insurance estimate, you're leaving money behind on work you've already completed.

The most successful roofing companies don't just focus on production. They protect their margins by making sure every claim reflects the full scope of the job.

Because protecting your profit shouldn't require taking on more projects. It starts by making sure you're paid for the work you've already done.

If an insurance estimate is approved, does that mean it's complete?

Not always.

A supplement is simply the process of documenting legitimate items that were missed in the original estimate, things like code upgrades, overhead and profit (O&P), steep slope adjustments, permit fees, and more. Those details can make a meaningful difference in the final claim value.

Understanding supplements isn't about fighting the insurance company. It's about making sure the scope of work accurately reflects the work required to complete the job.

The roof met code. The estimate didn't.

One Oklahoma contractor completed a roof replacement only to discover the original insurance estimate left out required code upgrades.

After reviewing the local building requirements and documenting each missing item, an additional $5,500 was approved.

The work was always necessary. It just wasn't included in the original scope.

Before you absorb costs that belong in the claim, make sure your estimate tells the complete story.
