of the way. Ron and Patricia Strimpfel have been building in the South Carolina Lowcountry since the early 1980s. We are known for exemplary client relations, communication, comprehensive budget management as well as resourcefulness. Our Team has developed a broad based network of suppliers to suit all of your structural and design goals. In pursuit of environmental consciousness, we have developed an expertise in the sourcing as well as integration of a wide variety of reclaimed building materials, unique architectural enhancements and energy efficient products and appliances. Our goal is to provide our clients with a pleasant building experience, at a cost effective price. Ron is a master carpenter and builder with an extensive background and history in the construction business. Ron's days are spent on-site, with his talented team, building the structures that have given RBD its favorable reputation in the community. Pat oversees the day-to-day operations of the business and project management. Ron and Pat have developed an approach to the building experience that has impressed clients for decades. A truly custom home doesn’t begin with finishes. It begins with intention.

Before the furniture is moved in... before the artwork is hung... before the candles are lit... every space should already feel like it belongs.

This dining room alcove was carefully proportioned to create a natural home for an heirloom cabinet and artwork, turning what could have been an empty wall into one of the home’s defining moments.

Every room in this home was designed from the inside out…considering not only how it would look, but how it would be lived in and the pieces that would eventually tell its story.

It’s these quiet details…the ones many people walk past…that make a house feel timeless.

The next generation is already getting their boots dirty.

Before a new home can take shape, there’s often one important step, making room for what’s next.

These two were more than happy to lend a hand during demolition on one of our newest Hilton Head Island projects.

Empty homesites are becoming increasingly rare, so when the opportunity comes to thoughtfully rebuild an existing property, it’s one we don’t take for granted.

Meet Brandon “Coop” Cooper.

For the past 2½ years, Coop has been one of our Crew Leaders and Lead Finish Carpenters, bringing patience, precision, and pride to every project he touches. Coop leads the way through consistency, teamwork, and a willingness to tackle whatever the day demands. From installing intricate trim details to putting the finishing touches on a home, he’s part of what transforms a house into something truly special.

When he’s away from the jobsite, you’ll most likely find him spending time with his family or out on one of the Lowcountry’s beautiful golf courses.

When asked what he wishes more people knew about Reclamation By Design, his answer couldn’t have been more fitting:

We see history.

These natural wormholes and markings were created long before this home was ever imagined. Rather than hiding them, we’ve preserved them; carefully cleaning, treating, and protecting the wood while allowing its story to remain visible.

No two boards are alike. No machine can recreate them. And no amount of stain or distressing can replicate what nature spent decades creating.

Lighting is one of the last selections made, but it has one of the biggest impacts on how a home feels.

At Reclamation By Design, we help our clients establish a lighting budget and connect them with local lighting specialists who help bring the vision to life. The result? Fixtures that don’t just illuminate a room, they become part of the architecture.

We have been members of the HBA since we opened our doors. Patricia was the first female president of the local organization and continues as a mentor to this day. Every home tells a story, but every family business does too.

At Reclamation By Design, our story started with a father who taught that relationships matter, quality matters, and doing things the right way matters.

Today, those lessons continue through the next generation, on job sites, around kitchen tables, and even in the little hands being raised to appreciate hard work and integrity.

The homes we build may stand for generations, but it all starts with the one who came before.
