Applewood provided and installed all the sod, landscaping plants, lighting and irrigation for our new house. Their work was outstanding. The plant material is excellent. Neighbors and even the head of the community’s architectural review board have commented on the size of the plants, trees and bushes and the health and fullness of the plantings. The irrigation system even include drip lines under all the plant beds. Rather than just set the lawn sprinkler heads to cover the plant beds (and wet the house, driveway etc. the drip lines use less water and put the water right on the plant roots. Cesar and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They never cut corners and took the time to do the job right. We were so impressed we asked Cesar to provide the weekly maintenance of landscape. His fees are very reasonable. We heartedly recommend Applewood !

We hired Applewood Landscape Construction to install the landscaping around our home, including all of the plantings, accent lighting and pine straw. The installation was handled professionally and efficiently, and the finished result looked beautiful.When a few of the originally selected plants didn’t thrive in our specific soil and light conditions, Cesar was very responsive and willing to help us problem-solve. He thoughtfully recommended alternative plantings that would be better suited to the environment and also helped us select additional shrubs to create an attractive privacy screen along one side of the property.We especially appreciated his willingness to come back, assess the conditions, and offer practical solutions rather than simply walking away from the project. That level of follow-through spoke volumes to us.We would not hesitate to recommend him for landscape installation and ongoing plant guidance.

My name is Cesar Higuera, owner of Applewood Landscape Construction, based in Bluffton, South Carolina. I discovered my passion for the landscape industry in 2012 while working under Rickie Rogers, a U.S. Marine veteran who taught me the fundamentals, discipline, and craftsmanship behind quality landscape construction.

Through years of hands-on experience, I advanced to become a lead foreman on large commercial landscape projects, managing crews and overseeing complex installations from start to finish. In 2020, I took the next step and founded Applewood Landscape Construction with one clear mission: 100% client satisfaction.

My expertise focuses on new landscape installations and landscape renovations, with a strong emphasis on long-term performance and functionality. I am also a certified drainage contractor, a qualification I take great pride in, as proper drainage is the foundation of every successful landscape project.

I am passionate about designing outdoor spaces that are both beautiful and functional for every occasion, always delivering high-quality craftsmanship at a fair and honest price for our clients.
