We got back down to our friends at the farm house for Phase II of their bathroom addition we started in the spring. This time around our focus was on weather proofing, roofing, and siding. Along the way, we realized some wall sections of this old home needed some attention as well. We trimmed out our windows in PVC for weather resistance and used a composite siding picked by the client that they will continue to run around the exterior of the home. With the colonial red roof, the color arrangement of this project ties together quite nicely.đź›

Limestone has built this region in more ways than just the stack stone foundations of the old farm houses we have grown to adore and preserve. We love any chance we get to showcase how beautiful this native stone can tie a nicely and naturally landscaped yard together.
When we first met with this client, they were hoping we could refinish an old wooden deck that spanned the rear wall of their home. After further inspection, it was clear the deck would unfortunately need a complete rebuild. As we discussed what the client really wanted in a patio and assessed the conditions around the exterior of the home, moisture resistance became everything.
Their landscape was full of native plant installations. We designed and constructed a 12’x16’ stagger pattern limestone patio with a rough faced retention wall. The patio is framed in with a 4’ moat of various grades of river rock, making it a great place to stage planters and pots with plenty of drainage. Set into the river rock is an arrangement of limestone slabs to form walkways to and from the patio.
This was a wonderful environment and project to be a part of and the whole crew would agree. It was a great feeling to see all of the elements of south central Indiana tie together so beautifully in a backyard in the heart of our home townđź›

With the holidays fast approaching and winter around the corner, we were reminded of the red hot summer we sweated through while working on some great projects throughout Monroe County. Wonderful clients and some after hour shenanigans were all the relief we needed along the way. We are excited to update y’all on some of the featured projects over the recent months. Stay tuned!🛠

Check out this beautiful ceiling we took care of for some folks dear to us out in Unionville. They had had it with their drop ceiling, so we pitched the option similar to the finish in our solarium project in Ellettsville. A narrower profile beveled tongue & groove planking with a bright white finish to help with light dispersal in a room filled with raw wood. The beautiful bonus is how well it accented those features.
We did away with the mashup of cans, track, and pendant lighting to install 7 units arranged in a staggered pattern. We also replaced the existing under cabinet lighting to match the tone of the arrangement in the ceiling. There is no issue confusing tablespoons for teaspoons in this well lit yet warm kitchen. We, the clients and our crew, can not wait for the next project for this wonderful family set in this beautiful cabin in the woods. Stay tuned!đź›

Remember our friends in the 1890s farmhouse? Well, we came back to do a bit more than some trim and chimney feature this time. One bathroom in a home of 4 just has not been cutting it. So we began to concept their perfect master bathroom. We are ecstatic with the completion of Phase One through this spring and cannot wait to return in the coming weeks to wrap up the exterior and prepare the interior for inspections.
A home from the 1890s has seen it all and oftentimes can be a mashup of room additions through the years, as this one has. Without tearing into too much of or removing the existing layout, we were able to design a space that met all of their wants and needs. We have also had the opportunity to address long needed repairs in the walls and foundation in the areas adjacent to the project.
The window from the bedroom will be removed and turned into a pocket door to step down onto tiled floors that lead to a claw foot tub. A small partition hip wall will aid in privacy and define the line between toilet and vanity space. These fixtures will be mounted against a wall comprised of reclaimed lumber original to this home. Two windows will add some wonderful natural light to the bathroom and have been mounted with privacy in mind.
After entering this 10’x10’ bathroom, a second pocket door will take you to their 6’x16’ master closet. It will feel rather grand for a space labeled as such. There will be room for a fitness area and long term storage. There are also two additional windows in this space for days you hit the elliptical a bit harder.
We can not wait to get back on the south side of Bloomington to get Phase Two of this project going. We have some wonderful changes about to happen on the exterior and beautiful finishing touches going into the interior of this new space. These clients also have over two dozen chickens, so the farm fresh eggs are always a bonus. Thank you for you interest and stay tuned!đź›

Not everything we do is a transformation. Sometimes, clients ask us to help them get their homes ready to sell so they can maximize returns. We were asked to redo an entryway in Martinsville through the winter for that very purpose. They just wanted a close match and simple tile job to replace the large amount of loose tiles as soon as you step in the door. They had similar tiles and tones through the house already, so it was not too terribly hard to source a product that met the aesthetic and requirements.
One fun little task was to make a new trim piece to conceal the tile edge around the bottom stair matching the finished wood in the space. Now the first thing potential buyers will notice is the beautiful, spacious home and not the shifting tiles under their feet. This project also came with a one year warranty that they can pass along to the new homeowners for tile replacement and grout repairs if any were to fail. Don’t mind the painters tape on the floor. The client removed it the day after to allow the threshold sealant time to cure🛠

We are beyond excited to say that the interior is complete on our room addition in western Monroe County. The clients wanted coffee wood tones and white bead board paneling throughout. We opted for simple, modern trim lines that play well with the patterns on the walls along with the tongue and groove ceiling. The support beams for the roof were wrapped in select pine and rubbed down with an espresso stain. They are ready to fill the room with furniture and plants, finally able to fully enjoy their new entertaining space. We will be back soon with the warmer weather ahead to wrap up the exterior renovation and this project will be complete! Stay tunedđź›

We got back over to our clients house in Spencer over the winter to finish out this bathroom. We had built this shower stall earlier in the year and they decided they wanted to carry the tile flooring throughout the space. They opted for natural looks with stone and finished wood. They even built this little shaker style vanity themselves to match the trim throughout the kitchen, along with the master bedroom and bath. We were big fans of the sink they sourced to really tie everything together. It was a pleasure helping them breathe some new life into their homeđź›

I always love making it back to a home after clients have gotten the chance to enjoy the work that’s been done. It’s wonderful to get the opportunity to see the smile on their face after they’ve been able to appreciate the build they dreamed of. It’s even better when you get a chance to see the selection of quality literature and vinyl!
The display lighting is in and is the perfect final touch to finish out this project. With this one concluded, we’ve begun discussing a deck restoration project when the warmer months arrive. I look forward to being a guest in this home for another fun build ahead!🛠

A fun little bathroom project for a fun client! Great stories and knowledge were shared throughout this project along with the conversations since. One thing we learned for sure was the clients love of classic and timeless design that was accurate to the design and period of their home.
We opted for white subway tile with white grout from the tub to the ceiling for the shower surround, with a vertical border to define the edge of the plastered wall. After a few different mosaic ideas, we decided to use the black and white pinwheel design with a pewter grout.
The funnest part of the job? It was the only bathroom in the house, making time critical while our clients were held up in a hotel for the week. We will be back soon to install tile throughout the main floor. We will update you with some pictures of the finished plaster repair and the fixtures installed in this bathroom. Stay tunedđź›
