Good floor plans don’t just look good on paper, they make everyday life easier. 👏🏼

At the Baxter Family Home in Duncan, the laundry room connects directly to the primary closet, creating an easy flow between two spaces that naturally work together.

Plus, instead of using a traditional swinging door, we incorporated a pocket door. It slides completely into the wall when open, which means no door swinging into the closet and taking up valuable wall or floor space. That leaves more flexibility for dressers, shelving, additional storage, or simply more room to move around.

It may seem like a small detail, but these are exactly the kinds of decisions that matter when you’re designing a home specifically for the people who will live in it.

Tile is one of those selections that can completely change the feel of a home, and this one is a great example of how you can mix different styles without making the finished home feel disconnected.

Throughout the Robinson home, we’re seeing several different looks come together: warm wood-look tile through the main areas, a darker patterned layout in another space, and a bright shower with marble-look wall tile, hexagon flooring, and a patterned accent inside the niche. That small niche detail is one of our favorites, it adds interest without overpowering the entire shower.

And that’s one of the benefits of building custom. Every room doesn’t have to get the same standard finish. You can change the tile, pattern, scale and layout depending on the space while still choosing finishes that flow together throughout the home.

One of the biggest advantages of building custom? Your home doesn’t have to be designed around someone else’s life. It can be designed around yours.🏡

At the White Family Ranch in Mustang, that shows up in details both big and small. High windows were incorporated to bring natural light deeper into the home while taking advantage of the tall ceilings and keeping the walls below functional for furniture and everyday living.

Then there are details you might not immediately think about, like planning for the dogs. 🐾 When you’re building from the ground up, even a dog door can be customized to fit your family. There are traditional options, as well as smart dog doors that communicate with a device on your dog’s collar and automatically open when they approach.

That’s what we mean when we talk about a custom home. It’s not simply picking your flooring, cabinets and paint colors. There’s a lot that happens before you ever see walls go up. 🔨

We’re at the Wade Family Home, and today is all about getting this foundation ready for tomorrow morning’s pour. Sand is being compacted, rebar is going in, and everything is being tied off and checked so we’re ready to pour the slab at 6 AM.

Once that concrete is down, things start moving quickly. Framing begins next week, and this homesite will start looking a whole lot more like a home. 🏡

The details are starting to tell the story at the Handke Homestead. 🏡

One of the things that immediately stands out in this home is the use of arched doorways throughout the main living spaces. It’s a simple architectural choice, but it changes the entire feel of the home, adding softness, character and a more intentional transition from one space to the next.

And those arches are only the beginning. The vaulted ceilings draw your eye up to the exposed wood beam, natural light pours in from windows at multiple heights, and the warm flooring is now giving the open living space some contrast. Next we’re finishing up the custom cabinetry and woodwork that will bring even more of the Handkes’ vision into focus.

This is why the details matter in a custom build. It isn’t just choosing finishes at the end, it’s making thoughtful decisions from the beginning that give the finished home its own identity.

From framing to a roofline 🙌🏼🏡

It might seem like just another step in the building process, but getting the roof on is a BIG milestone, and the Dixon home in Comanche is looking more like a home every time we stop by.

Beyond completely changing the look of the house, getting the roof dried in is an important turning point in the build. It helps protect the structure from Oklahoma weather and gets us one step closer to moving more of the work inside.

And can we talk about those rooflines?! The different peaks are already giving this home so much character, and there are still so many details to come.

We love watching what started as plans on paper take shape right in front of us. The Dixon home is coming along beautifully! 🤎

Spray foam insulation is complete at the White Family Ranch in Mustang, and this is one of those behind-the-scenes details that can make a big difference in how a home performs for years to come.

Spray foam creates a tighter building envelope, helping the HVAC system maintain a comfortable temperature without having to run as frequently, which can mean better energy efficiency and lower utility costs.

But building a tighter home also means thinking about fresh air and moisture management. That’s why this home incorporates a fresh-air intake through the HVAC return system, bringing outside air into the home and allowing the system to help manage humidity and moisture.
