"What actually happens during restoration?"

It's one of the first questions we hear from homeowners after a pipe bursts, a storm tears through, or a fire changes everything overnight. And it makes sense — the terminology alone can be confusing at a time when you're already overwhelmed.

So here's the plain-language version, broken into the three phases most restoration projects go through:

Mitigation — stopping the damage from getting worse. Drying out water, cutting out wet drywall, securing the property. This phase protects your house.

Remediation — removing anything that could affect your health or safety, like mold, smoke, soot, or contaminated materials. This phase protects you.

Reconstruction — rebuilding what was lost. Drywall, flooring, cabinets, windows — putting your space back together.

Not every project needs all three. A recent flood usually means mitigation and reconstruction. Long-term mold with no active water source might just need remediation and reconstruction. Every situation is different, which is exactly why we walk through it with you before any work begins — not after.

Watch the full breakdown in the video below. If you're staring at damage right now and not sure which phase you're even in, that's exactly the kind of question we're here to answer.

When Hurricane Helene hit, this family lost more than a wall.

Their entryway and living room took the brunt of it. Their kitchen — the room where most families actually live their lives — was gutted down to the studs. For months, "home" meant something unfinished. Something in progress. That's not a small thing to carry.

We came into this project knowing our job wasn't just framing and drywall. It was helping a family get their home — and the feeling of home — back.

That meant showing up when we said we would. Explaining what came next before they had to ask. Treating their house the way we'd want ours treated.

Some projects are about materials. This one was about a family who trusted us with the place where their life happens, and stayed patient with us through every phase it took to make it right.
