🔨 Feature Friday 🔨

Today’s featured roof is a perfect example of why a proper tear-off inspection matters during a reroof project.

At first glance, it looked like the recent wind had simply torn a piece of fascia loose. But once we removed the old roofing materials, we uncovered a much bigger issue hiding underneath.

Moisture had already started causing rot, and sections of both the roof sheathing and fascia board needed to be completely replaced before the new roofing system could be installed correctly.

This is exactly why shortcuts during roofing projects can create major problems down the road. A roof isn’t just shingles — it’s an entire system working together to protect your home.

Throwback Thursday: Roofing Felt with Tar Mops

Years ago, roofers would apply hot asphalt (tar) and felt paper using tar mops. It was messy, labor-intensive, and incredibly hot work.

Today, synthetic underlayment is lighter, stronger, more tear-resistant, and provides better protection during installation.

Can you imagine carrying buckets of hot tar up a ladder in July?
