Su***de is complicated and tragic, and according to the National Institute of Mental Health it is often preventable. Knowing the warning signs and how to help can save lives. These behaviors may be signs that someone is thinking about su***de:
▪️ Talking about wanting to die, great guilt or shame, or being a burden to others.
▪️Feeling empty, hopeless, extremely sad, agitated, full of rage, trapped or in unbearable emotional or physical pain.
▪️Behavior changes like withdrawing from friends, saying goodbye or giving away important items; researching ways to die or making a will; taking dangerous risks; displaying extreme mood swings; changes in eating or sleeping; or increased alcohol or substance use.

If these warnings signs apply to you or someone you know, call or text the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline at 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.

Feeling anxious from time to time is normal. If your worry feels constant or hard to control, you’re not alone. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 19% of U.S. adults experienced an anxiety disorder in the past year. Managing anxiety may involve learning ways to cope with worry, practicing relaxation techniques, and talking with a healthcare provider or mental health professional. Stress is a normal part of life, but it can take a toll when it lasts too long. According to the National Institutes of Health, ongoing stress can affect sleep, increase irritability and contribute to health problems. Helpful ways to manage stress include getting regular exercise like walking for 30 minutes daily, scheduling regular times for a relaxing activity, getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night and staying connected with others who support you. Small steps can add up and help you feel calmer and more in control.

If you feel unable to cope or have suicidal thoughts, call or text the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline at 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.

Taking care of mental health is just as important as caring for physical health. Be kind to yourself and prioritize what helps you recharge.
