The amazing Mexican Petunia! These purple flowers open during the day and close at night. She’s been so fun to watch so I looked her up!
Mexican petunia (scientific name: Ruellia simplex, formerly Ruellia brittoniana) is a hardy perennial grown for its trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom from late spring through fall.
Key characteristics:

* Spread: 2–3 feet
* Flower colors: Purple (most common), pink, white, and lavender
* Light: Full sun to partial shade
* Water: Moderate; once established, it’s drought tolerant but also tolerates wet soils
