Please join us in welcoming Ramsay Tipp to Schoel as our newest BHM Survey team member!

Ramsay joins us with a strong educational foundation in Geomatics Sciences and Land Surveying from Troy University Geospatial Informatics Department , where he graduated cm laude, along with hands-on field experience in surveying, CADD drafting, and construction support. His background includes assisting survey crews with data collection, stakeout, monument setting, and GPS and total station operations, giving him practical experience in the field.

In addition to his technical skills, Ramsay serves in the Alabama National Guard, where his military experience has strengthened his leadership, discipline, and analytical abilities. We're excited to have Ramsay on the Survey team and look forward to the knowledge, dedication, and professionalism he will bring to Schoel and our clients.

This week, members of our team attended the groundbreaking celebration for The Current at Grants Mill, a new 48-acre residential community.

Developed by StoneRiver Company, the community will feature 330 residences, including garden-style apartments, townhomes, carriage houses and cottage-style homes. Residents will also have access to two resort-style pools, a clubhouse, fitness center, outdoor gathering spaces, a dog park, and other community amenities.

Schoel is proud to support this development through civil engineering, land surveying, construction surveying, environmental, water resources and aquatics engineering services. We look forward to watching The Current at Grants Mill take shape ahead of its anticipated opening in summer 2027.

Today's featured project is this extravagant resort pool, designed by members of our Aquatics Engineering team. It's a great example of the experience and creativity our team brings to their designs.

As summer comes to a close, the Schoel team has been staying engaged with industry leaders by attending conferences focused on the future of engineering and economic development.

Our Civil Engineering Department Managers Andrew Phillips and David Hall represented Schoel at the ACEC Conference, connecting with fellow engineering professionals and discussing the latest industry trends and best practices.

Collin Orcutt, Fred Smith, and Harry Wilson attended the Economic Development Association of Alabama (EDAA) Conference, where they met with economic development leaders and industry partners from across the state.

Today we celebrate Professional Engineers Day by recognizing the 19 Professional Engineers who make up the foundation of Schoel's engineering expertise. With 11 Professional Engineers in our Birmingham office and 8 in our Huntsville office, our team is dedicated to delivering innovative, practical solutions that help shape communities throughout Alabama and the Southeast.

Progress continues on the future outdoor expansion of the Scottsboro Boys Museum & Cultural Center, a project dedicated to preserving and sharing the powerful story of the nine young men whose case became a defining symbol of racial injustice in America. Schoel is honored to provide landscape architecture master planning services for the 1.3-acre site, which is envisioned to include interactive outdoor exhibits, a multipurpose amphitheater, open lawn space, and the Ada Wright Memorial Garden honoring the mothers and families affected by injustice. Following the recent groundbreaking ceremony that officially launched the Outdoor Expansion Project, the vision for this transformative space is one step closer to reality. Once constructed, the new exhibits and gathering spaces will create meaningful opportunities for reflection, education, and community engagement while helping ensure the legacy of the Scottsboro Boys continues to inspire future generations.
