Storms can cause significant disruptions for communities, making it essential to restore power safely and efficiently for those affected.

Our team was proud to partner with Kentucky Power on a storm restoration project for FirstEnergy’s Jersey Central Power and Light in Summit, New Jersey. To ensure the safety of both our crews and the public, the work was performed on a closed roadway with the line de-energized throughout the restoration process.

We're grateful for the opportunity to support our industry partners and remain committed to restoring reliable service while keeping safety at the forefront of every job.

The first step in maintaining a safe environment for our crews in the field is proper education and training.

Here you can see one of our teams conducting a training for self-rescue from a Bronto. This training allows for those in the field to learn how to safely clip in, get the rope out, and repel out of the bucket to get to the ground safely in the case of a failure.

Many of our crews work at heights of up to 187 feet in the air, making knowing how to get down to the ground in an emergency in a safe way is essential.

EGS prioritizes trainings such as these to help keep our crews safe and create a proactive mindset rather than a reactive one. A special shoutout to Brandon Tolbert, whose safety leadership continues to strengthen our team. Through innovation, forward thinking, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our crews, Brandon is helping raise the standard for what safety looks like in our industry.

Lighting the way to a smarter, safer future.

Our Lighting Group recently completed a lighting conversion at Callaway Gardens in Georgia, replacing outdated high-pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures with modern LED lighting. The result is brighter, more consistent illumination, improved visibility, enhanced safety, and greater energy efficiency throughout the property.

This project also included the installation of new Telensa Telecell photocell lighting technology, giving the system an added layer of intelligence. The wireless controllers automatically manage lighting while instantly notifying maintenance teams when a light goes out, helping reduce outages, improve response times, and keep the area illuminated when it matters most.

From NEC and NESC compliant lighting installations to advanced smart lighting solutions, our team delivers quality, reliability, and innovation on every project.
