Ever wonder how we connect a section of asphalt paved yesterday with the fresh hot-mix we’re laying down today without leaving a weak, ugly seam?
Watch closely! 🎥 What you’re seeing in this video is our crew using a heat lance.
What is a heat lance and what does it do?
It’s a high-powered propane torch that blasts extreme heat along the cold edge of yesterday's asphalt. By intensely reheating that existing edge right before we lay down today's fresh batch, we melt the two sections together.
Why does this matter?
Seamless Bonding: It creates a hot-on-hot thermal bond, fusing the two separate days of work into one continuous, solid sheet of asphalt.
Winter-Proofing: Eliminating a cold joint means water can’t creep into a seam, freeze, expand, and crack your driveway during our harsh Montana winters.
At SPC Asphalt, we don’t just lay blacktop—we take incredible pride in the science and precision of doing it right. We invest the extra time, labor, and specialized equipment into every job because we build things to last.
The SPC Asphalt Advantage:
Veteran Owned & Operated: Bound by integrity, discipline, and top-tier workmanship.
Locally Owned: We live here in the Flathead Valley, and we care about our neighbors. 🏔️
Highway Grade Materials: Heavy-duty quality for residential and commercial projects alike.
