“HIRING”
We are a residential general contractor with over 20 years of experience working in Southern Mid-Coast Maine. Our overall goals are to make the customer happy starting on day one. Workdays will be related to custom remodels and additions with the occasional new custom home. We are looking for a few good carpenters to join our team. We strive to work towards success everyday.
The ideal candidates should be qualified as a Carpenter to cut, fabricate and install components for many aspects of the residential building process according to plans and specifications. We want carpenters with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Ability to work within a team and problem solving are very important traits for this position. Working with little supervision is a factor on some jobs but not all.
Our carpenters do a variety of tasks related to the scheduled projects. A days work can range from framing, siding, trim, window & door installation, cabinet installation, stairs, decks, and minor demolition and repairs.
Responsibilities:
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements
Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
Lay out floorings, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
Install exterior trim, siding and windows according to manufacturer specifications.
Install interior trim as specified on plans.
Make framing repairs to existing structures.
Build scaffolding and other construction structures
Skills:
Proven experience as carpenter
Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials
Ability to think critically about the steps involved in a process and anticipate next steps required to create a successful and efficient outcome.
Ability to problem solve
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, pneumatic tools)
Ability to read technical documents and drawings
Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
Good understanding of basic math
Good physical condition and endurance
Requirements:
Hand tools (power tools and other large hand tools are provided.
Reliable transportation.
Driver's license
Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects. 50 pounds if necessary.
Working from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday thru Friday.
High school diploma or equivalent.
