Before, after, and process photos from a basic basement stair re-tread we completed last year. The original stairs were from the late 1800’s-early 1900’s, and while structurally solid were in need of a facelift. We custom milled the treads out of 1 by pine to accomplish the slightly knotty look the owner wanted while maximizing the budget. Treads were all scribed to fit and finished with a stain and streetshoe polyurethane. Risers were custom cut from 1/4 finished birch plywood, primed with BIN shellac based primer, and recieved 2 coats of Sherwin Williams emerald trim enamel. The landing was built up with sanded plywood glued and screwed to the existing framing to provide substrate for vinyl plank flooring on the landing.

Some before, after, and progress photos from a past porch replacement in the Harrisburg area. This project started with demo and a reinforced structural concrete formwork and placement to remediate a failed block foundation wall. Then the porch was completely reframed to provide a solid structure for the mahogany porch flooring boards. Boards were prefinished on site on all sides with a Sherwin Williams deck stain before installation, and then refinished on the wear surface after installation. Trim and column wraps were all done with PVC stock.

“Exceptional Craftsmanship, Superior Quality, Remarkable Results”

Another beautiful bathroom remodel from this spring! Check out the before and after comparisons to see how stark of a difference this remodel made!

This remodel started with demo, including removal of an old 1 piece tub and tile floor and wainscotting. The water lines were replaced in a combination of pureflow pex and type L copper. The drain lines and vents were also reconfigured to not only accept the new shower, but also to properly add a washing machine connection with proper venting. In the process we also were able to address a few other issues in the existing drain plumbing, including incorrect pitch and improper fitting usage, to make sure the plumbing system was code compliant.

A coat closet was eliminated and reframed into a laundry closet to house the clients brand new GE Profile high efficiency heat pump combination unit. Drywall was hung and finished, with transition areas from old to new drywall receiving a level 5 finish.

The accessibility/aging in place shower was started with a Sterling shower pan set into a mortar bed, making the base completely rock solid. Solid blocking was added for all grab bars and a bench (the bench was back ordered at the time of the photos). The walls recieved the Schluter Kerdi system to prep for installation of a beautiful polished large format 12 by 24 porcelain tile. The niche is framed with Schluter Quadec trim in Greige and features a Schluter niche shelf in greige. The tile was finished with Bostik Tru-Color grout in Almond with corners and bottom receiving matching silicone.

The new shower fixtures are the Delta Trinsic Monitor 17 series in matte black featuring independent volume and temperature controls. A 3 way diverter allows the user to choose between a combination of the hand shower or shower head or both. Both the valve and diverter use delta’s solid brass rough in valves, and this shower system is completely pipes in copper. The hand shower features a dual function grab bar/slide bar to make bathing easier in an accessibly situation.

The bathroom also features a new waterproof luxury vinyl plank flooring, new owner selected vanity and top, new led lighting and a new broan vent fan which is now properly vented to the outside (we discovered the old fan simply discharged into the attic with no exhaust ductwork).

Today we enjoyed the opportunity to give back to our home community, the Borough of Bernville, by donating use of our equipment and labor to re-pipe failed water lines at umbenhauer park. When the Boro turned on the water to the park this spring, multiple severe leaks were discovered in the park kitchen. Over the years small patches and repairs were made as needed, but the severity of the current leaks in combination with the system still having faulty gray polybutylene pipe warranted a full replacement.

We started by installing a new isolation valve on the incoming water service, which we did with our pro-press capability as we were unable to drain down the system. We then replaced the water supply piping with Viega pex, including new hot and cold hose bib connections. The kitchen sink was reconnected with new supply hoses and ni***es for rigidity. The water heater is scheduled to be replaced soon, at which point the new water heater will be tied in with longer copper connections and unions. Before we finished we pressurized and tested the new piping, to be sure the park and kitchen will be ready for its first rental in a few days! We are thankful we were able to give back and help out our community!

“Exceptional Craftsmanship- Superior Quality- Remarkable Results”- That’s the BCC way!

Before and after on this stunning basement fitout! This project featured many elements and details that changed this space from a blank slate to a beautiful family/living area.

This project included many MEP upgrades, including cutting/jackhammering out and then later re-concreting a portion of the slab to rough in for a new basement powder room. A new pressure reducing valve (PRV) was added into the incoming water service with dual isolation valves, dual unions, and an inline pressure guage to make future maintenance easy and accessible. All water line work was done with either Viega Copper Pro-Press or Viega Pureflow Pex. Ductwork and a new vent van were installed, along with new ceiling registers.

Our licensed electrical subcontractor took care of a plethora of electrical upgrades! A new 100 amp subpanel was added. A 50 amp generator connection with a square d interlock device was also installed. LED lighting was utilized throughout the entire space, all controlled with Leviton Diva Dimmers. A low voltage lighting system was added in the built ins for feature lighting dedicated 20 amp circuits were added at the dry bar and the gym area, as well as dedicated circuits for the refrigerator and the fireplace. A recessed data and power box was installed behind the TV. In addition to all the new electrical work, our electrician also took the time to correct some existing circuitry and wiring problems made by the original builder to make the home safer.

The entire basement was insulated with 2 inch polyiso foam continuous insulation to meet the current energy code requirement of continuous insulation. Walls were 2 by 4 framed with code required pressure treated bottom plates. Drywall was hung and finished to a minimum of level 4, with some areas receiving a level 5 finish. Paint was all Sherwin Williams, the wall color was “Comfort Gray”. An acoustical suspended ceiling was installed using Armstrong Prelude grid and Armstrong Sahara Tegular ceiling tiles. The flooring was commercial luxury vinyl plank, Coretec Pro Plus in Duxbury Oak.

Built ins, the mantle, and the bar cabinetry were 100% custom and 100% built in house, from design, fabrication, finishing, and installation! The builder grade staircase was completely transformed with beautiful stained oak treads and painted risers. The owners safe was built into a custom “strong closet”. The doors were all custom ordered and hung to meet project specifications, including the solid core door on the safe closet. The casing profile was a solid wood eased 2 edge casing we custom milled in house! Baseboard was a solid wood tall beaded profile. The stairwell walls and electrical closet were finished with solid wood nickel gap shiplap.

Wanted to share some of the clean custom cabinetry and built ins from a basement remodel we completed. These units were built 100% custom and 100% in house! We used a 3D modeling software to complete the design, and then brought these to life in our shop. The color of those units is “new black” with the stained elements in “dark walnut”.

The cabinets are solid plywood case construction with hardwood face frames. Doors were custom shaker style completely built from scratch our shop. Doors feature premium Soft Close Blum Blumotion euro hinges, and the center cabinet features a real glass inlay panel. Drawers feature premium Blum Tandem Plus soft closing concealed slides.

The built ins were custom sized to fit recesses we framed in the fireplace wall. These built ins feature oak feature shelves with low voltage dimmable accent lighting. Each shelf also included a 120v outlet and cable management. A beautiful solid oak box mantle tops the fireplace and ties the two end units together.

Just a little sneak peak/teaser of some of the completely custom cabinetry and built ins we built for a basement renovation! These are two of the built in units to surround a large fireplace. Color is “new black” with stained oak shelves in “dark walnut”. The bottom section of these units will receive shaker doors we milled and built in house.

I can’t wait to share the rest of this project! Stay tuned to see the amazing transformation of this basement space.
