🚨 What you’re watching is NOT an inspection.

In this investigator’s footage, a roofer is intentionally bending back shingles in an attempt to create or exaggerate damage that wasn’t originally there. Once a shingle is creased or fractured, it can appear similar to legitimate wind damage—potentially misleading homeowners and insurance companies.

This is dangerous for several reasons:

❌ It can void legitimate insurance claims.
❌ Homeowners can become unknowingly involved in insurance fraud investigations.
❌ The roof may suffer actual damage from the inspection itself.
❌ Trust in reputable roofing contractors gets damaged along with it.

A professional inspection should document existing conditions—not create new ones.

If a contractor starts lifting, folding, or aggressively manipulating shingles without a valid reason, that’s a major red flag. Always ask questions, request photos, and work with contractors who prioritize integrity over commissions.

Your roof protects your family. Make sure the people inspecting it do too.

🏠 Think you need a drone or fancy app to find your roof pitch?

One of the easiest ways to determine a roof’s pitch is from inside the attic.

Here’s how:

📏 Place a level horizontally against a rafter.
📏 Measure 12 inches along the level.
📏 From that 12-inch mark, measure vertically down to the rafter.

That measurement is your roof’s pitch.

Example:
✅ 6 inches = 6/12 pitch
✅ 8 inches = 8/12 pitch
✅ 12 inches = 12/12 pitch

Why does it matter?

Your roof pitch affects:
• Material selection
• Ventilation requirements
• Installation methods
• Safety procedures
• How quickly water and snow shed from the roof

It’s one of the first measurements roofing professionals look at because it influences nearly every aspect of the roofing system.

The next time you’re in your attic, take a look—you might learn more about your home in 60 seconds than most homeowners know in 60 years.

“My roof is leaking.”
“My siding blew off.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong, but I need someone here ASAP.”

Most homeowners aren’t roofing, siding, or solar experts—and they shouldn’t have to be.

Every day, our call center team takes stressful, urgent situations and quickly diagnoses what’s happening by asking the right questions, identifying key symptoms, and connecting homeowners with the right solution.

It’s a bit like being a detective, a counselor, and a project coordinator all at once.

A small stain on a ceiling could be a roof leak, condensation issue, plumbing problem, or ventilation defect. The difference is knowing which questions to ask—and asking them fast.

When homeowners call A1, they’re often worried, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Our job is to bring clarity, urgency, and confidence to the situation before our team even arrives.

The faster we understand the problem, the faster we can help solve it.

☎️ Behind every successful project is a conversation that started with someone simply saying, “I need help.”

Most people think shingles are just decorative.

They’re not.

Your shingles are actually your home’s first line of defense against rain, wind, hail, and the sun’s powerful UV rays.

Each shingle is made of a fiberglass mat coated with asphalt and covered in protective mineral granules. Those granules act like sunscreen for your roof, shielding the asphalt from constant UV exposure.

But over time, that protection wears away.

🚩 Signs it may be time for a roof replacement:
• Excessive granules collecting in gutters
• Shingles that are cracking, curling, or becoming brittle
• Dark spots where granules have worn off
• Missing or damaged shingles
• Visible aging across large sections of the roof

Once the protective granules are gone, UV rays begin breaking down the asphalt underneath, accelerating deterioration and increasing the risk of leaks.

A roof rarely fails overnight—it usually gives warning signs first.

The question is: Are you noticing them?

Most homeowners never think about what keeps a roofer safe on a 10/12 or 12/12 pitch roof.

It’s not luck.

It’s the right equipment.

These RoofRunner roofing sneakers are specifically designed to maximize grip and stability on steep roofs, helping roofers maintain secure footing while navigating slopes that would make most people nervous just looking at them.

Better traction means:
✅ Improved safety
✅ More precise workmanship
✅ Greater confidence on steep surfaces
✅ Reduced risk of slips and falls

While the shoes help, there’s no substitute for proper training, safety equipment, and experience. A steep roof is never the place for shortcuts.

The next time you see a roofer walking across a roof that looks impossible to stand on, remember: there’s a lot more science, skill, and specialized equipment involved than meets the eye.

Most homeowners never see this conversation happen.

A good inspection isn’t about “selling” damage — it’s about documenting what’s actually there and making sure the homeowner is treated fairly.

That’s why having both a knowledgeable sales rep and an experienced insurance adjuster on-site matters. They’re looking at:
✔️ Wind damage
✔️ Hail impact marks
✔️ Creased shingles
✔️ Lifted tabs
✔️ Flashing issues
✔️ Signs that could lead to leaks later

The goal should never be conflict. The goal is clarity.

A quality contractor knows how to advocate for the homeowner while respecting the process — because missing damage today can become a much bigger problem tomorrow.

Most roofs don’t fail overnight. They fail from small issues that were ignored for too long.

Most homeowners hear “20-year,” “30-year,” or even “lifetime warranty” and assume they’re protected. But here’s what many don’t realize:

A warranty only matters if the roofing company is still in business to honor it.

When a contractor cuts corners, underprices jobs, or disappears after a few years, homeowners are often left with leaks, failed workmanship, and no one answering the phone when problems show up years later.

Roofing isn’t just about installing shingles. It’s about standing behind the work long after the final nail is installed.

That’s why choosing a contractor with a proven track record, stability, and reputation matters just as much as the materials themselves.

Because the real test of a roofing company isn’t how they act on install day…
It’s whether they’re still there when you actually need them.

Most homeowners look at shingles and think: “Looks good to me.”

But an experienced roofer can spot problems in seconds.

Incorrect nailing patterns can void manufacturer warranties, weaken wind resistance, cause shingles to slide, create leaks, and dramatically shorten the life of the roof. And the scary part? A lot of these issues stay hidden until major damage shows up inside the home.

A roof isn’t just about what you can see — it’s about what’s happening underneath every single shingle. Proper nail placement, spacing, depth, and pattern all matter more than most people realize.

The difference between a roof that lasts 30 years and one that fails early is often in the details nobody talks about.

🎥 In this video, our roofer breaks down exactly what he sees that the average homeowner wouldn’t notice — and why it matters long term.
