đ¨ What youâre watching is NOT an inspection.
In this investigatorâs footage, a roofer is intentionally bending back shingles in an attempt to create or exaggerate damage that wasnât originally there. Once a shingle is creased or fractured, it can appear similar to legitimate wind damageâpotentially misleading homeowners and insurance companies.
This is dangerous for several reasons:
â It can void legitimate insurance claims.
â Homeowners can become unknowingly involved in insurance fraud investigations.
â The roof may suffer actual damage from the inspection itself.
â Trust in reputable roofing contractors gets damaged along with it.
A professional inspection should document existing conditionsânot create new ones.
If a contractor starts lifting, folding, or aggressively manipulating shingles without a valid reason, thatâs a major red flag. Always ask questions, request photos, and work with contractors who prioritize integrity over commissions.
Your roof protects your family. Make sure the people inspecting it do too.
