At Window Restorations of CT, we make your historic wood windows look new again with added energy efficiency and functionality. From the time of our first visit to survey the project to the completion of a job, we work closely with our customers to achieve their restoration goals. Here, we beautifully restored the 3rd floor French casement windows in this 1912 West Hartford home by replacing the single pane glass with energy efficient low-E double-pane insulated glass units and replacing the original hardware with shiny brass locks, giving it a brand new, polished look. We also fabricated new full screens (not shown) that'll fit on the outside of these inward-swinging casements.

At Window Restorations, we serve a diverse set of customers throughout the state of Connecticut. While the majority of our jobs each year are with residential homeowners, we also work with universities, churches and GCs on a variety of projects each year. We recently completed the restoration of historic windows at the Old New-Gate Prison in East Granby, the state's first prison used between 1776-1782 to detain prisoners of war from the American Revolution. The windows received a bit of TLC from our crew, making repairs to rotted muntins and broken panes and adding locks to seal out moisture and drafts.

Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine has been a National Historic Landmark since 1972 and operates as a history museum today.

At Window Restorations of CT, we love a challenge! This 1901 historic Colonial had beautiful patterned muntins throughout the house. Our customer desired to add some detail to this large window set in the front of their home to match the detailed style that many of the other windows had in the upper sashes. With extra patterned muntins located in the attic, we rebuilt a new window sash, inserted double-pane IGU units (which we did throughout the house) and used the salvaged muntins on the interior of top portion of glass while creating a duplicate on the outside. What a gorgeous look, while the large window is more energy efficient than before!

At Window restorations of CT, we specialize in making your old wood windows look and function like new. For this 1725 colonial home, the homeowner desired to maintain the existing glass, but we needed to fix or replace areas of extremely rotted wood in most of the sashes and reglaze the existing single pane glass to keep it in place. The double-hung windows received an upgrade with hidden spring balances and wool pile weather stripping to eliminate all wood-on-wood contact. The result - beautifully restored (very) old wood windows that open easily and are more energy efficient!

At Window Restorations of CT, we make sure your windows are picture perfect. Here's a closer look at the beautifully restored windows that we worked on at the 1888 Belden House in Litchfield. Our client wished to maintain the existing glass in this historic building. However, when we came across some cracked and broken panes, we replaced the glass in addition to the restoration of sashes in order to return these windows to their original beauty. Window Restorations of CT took on the most challenging windows in this historic building restoration project, modernizing the curved glass, arched top double-hung windows located in the turret of the Belden house (seen in the photos) to make them easier to open and reglazing them and the demilune (quarter-round) windows, bringing both these prominent window styles from the Queen Anne and colonial revival periods back to their original beauty.
