Cracks in brick walls are more than just a cosmetic issue.

When a vertical crack appears in masonry, especially below windows or along walls, it often indicates that the bricks and mortar have been placed under stress. This can happen due to foundation movement, moisture pe*******on, or natural settling of the structure over time.

When left untreated, cracks can continue to widen and allow water to enter the wall. Moisture inside masonry can weaken mortar joints, damage bricks, and lead to additional structural problems.

In repairs like this one, the damaged section of brickwork is carefully addressed so the wall regains its strength and stability. Proper masonry repair not only restores the appearance of the wall but also protects the home from further deterioration.

If you notice cracks in your brick exterior, don’t wait for the damage to grow. Contact our team today to schedule a masonry inspection and get professional advice on the best repair solution for your home.

Exterior brick and stone can last for decades, but they still require maintenance to stay strong and look their best.

Over time, weather, moisture, and temperature changes slowly affect masonry surfaces. Rainwater can seep into small gaps in mortar joints, and repeated freeze and thaw cycles can cause those joints to weaken or deteriorate. Staining, discoloration, and minor cracks may also begin to appear, especially around entryways and arches that are exposed to the elements.

When these early signs are addressed, masonry restoration can prevent more serious structural problems. The process often involves repairing or renewing worn mortar joints, cleaning stained surfaces, and restoring damaged areas so the brick and stone remain stable and protected.

Maintaining the masonry around your home’s entrance is especially important because this area is both highly visible and an essential structural feature. Proper repairs not only improve the appearance of the home but also help extend the life of the entire exterior.

If you notice cracks, staining, loose mortar, or aging brickwork around your home, having it inspected early can help avoid more extensive repairs later.

Did you know chimney bricks can start failing long before major damage becomes visible?

Over time, water seeps into mortar joints and bricks. During freeze and thaw cycles, that moisture expands and slowly breaks the masonry apart. Eventually bricks loosen, crack, or begin to crumble.

In this project, the damaged chimney base had to be partially dismantled so the failing bricks could be replaced and the structure rebuilt properly. This type of repair restores stability and prevents further deterioration.

Signs your chimney may need repair include:
🧱 Cracked or broken bricks
🧱 Loose bricks around the chimney base
🧱 Mortar joints that are crumbling or missing
🧱 Pieces of brick or mortar falling near the chimney

Regular chimney inspections can catch these problems early and prevent more costly repairs later.

If you notice loose bricks, crumbling mortar, or cracks in your chimney, it’s a good idea to address the problem early before it spreads. Give us a call to schedule a masonry inspection.
