Batton down the hatches 💨 🍂 🌧️ 🥶 on the way!

💨 **STRONG WINDS ARE COMING… AND FRIDAY NIGHT IS GOING TO FEEL DOWNRIGHT COLD** 🌬️🥶

HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS! Mother Nature is about to crank up the wind machine, and she's bringing a serious temperature drop along for the ride!

Winds will begin picking up Friday morning, especially across northern areas, as a frontal boundary moves through. But that's just the beginning...

**HERE'S WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING!**

As our low-pressure system moves past the region, two pieces of atmospheric energy will begin to merge, a process known as *phasing*. This will allow the storm system to rapidly strengthen, tightening the pressure gradient and causing winds to REALLY ramp up by Friday evening and overnight!

💨 **EXPECTED WIND SPEEDS:**
- Sustained winds: 15–25 MPH
- Widespread gusts: 30–40 MPH
- Lakeshore communities: 40–50 MPH gusts possible!

🥶 **AND HERE COMES THE REAL FUN...**

By Friday evening, temperatures will be TUMBLING into the 40s! Combine that with strong northerly winds blowing across Lake Erie, periods of lake-effect rain, and gusts approaching 40-50 MPH near the lakeshore...

Yeah... it's going to feel absolutely RAW outside! The kind of weather that makes you question why you ever complained about those 80-degree temperatures earlier this week. 😂 (I would never complain about the cold though)

Friday night is shaping up to be a **COLD, WINDY, AND WET** introduction to what October is capable of delivering!

Big 🌧️ on the way Sunday!

🚨 BIG UPDATES TO THIS WEEKEND'S HEAVY RAINFALL THREAT! 🌧️

Things are getting INTERESTING, and not necessarily in a good way if you have outdoor plans Sunday! 👀

The latest weather models are becoming increasingly consistent with a WESTWARD SHIFT in the heaviest rainfall axis, bringing the potential for **2"+ OF RAIN** farther west than previously anticipated!

Not only that, but model guidance continues to trend WETTER across much of our region as the system pulls an abundance of tropical moisture northward.

**SO, WHEN DOES THE RAIN ARRIVE?** ⏰

🌧️ **SATURDAY (9 PM–MIDNIGHT):** Rain begins spreading into southern portions of our region, including the Columbus area, before advancing north and northeast overnight.

🌧️ **SUNDAY (3 AM–6 AM):** Rain reaches much of Northern Ohio, with coverage and intensity increasing as the morning progresses.

🌧️ **SUNDAY MORNING (6 AM–NOON):** This could be one of the WETTEST periods of the entire weekend! Widespread moderate, steady rainfall is expected, with pockets of HEAVY rain capable of producing impressive rainfall rates.

🌧️ **SUNDAY AFTERNOON:** Areas WEST of Sandusky should begin seeing rainfall diminish around midday. However, areas EAST of Sandusky could continue dealing with periods of rain well into Sunday evening!

⚠️ **HERE'S WHAT HAS MY ATTENTION...**

The westward adjustment in the 2"+ rainfall zone is something I'm watching VERY closely. If these trends continue, locations that were previously expecting less rainfall could end up seeing considerably more.

And remember, when you're dealing with tropical moisture, localized heavier bands can develop and produce significantly higher rainfall totals over relatively short distances.

**THE BOTTOM LINE:** Sunday is shaping up to be a widespread SOAKER for much of Ohio, with the potential for localized flooding where the heaviest rainfall bands develop.

I'll continue monitoring the latest model trends and make adjustments as needed!

🌧️ THIS WEEKEND IS ABOUT TO BE A SOAKER! 🌧️

Got weekend plans? 👀 Mother Nature may have other ideas. A widespread soaking rain event is shaping up for the region this weekend, and some areas could pick up quite a bit of rain. 💦

⚠️When:
Rain will begin pushing into Northwest Ohio by late Saturday morning or early afternoon, then gradually spread eastward. By Saturday evening and overnight, widespread rain should be ongoing across much of the region.

⚠️ THE BIG CONCERN: HEAVY RAIN

A frontal boundary is expected to remain nearly stationary while we have very high moisture levels in place. That could allow thunderstorms and heavier showers to repeatedly develop over the same areas.

That means some locations could see hours of training rain and storms leading to locally significant totals.

💧 RAINFALL POTENTIAL
• 2”+ possible in some areas
• 3”+ possible in the heavier-rain zones
• A few very isolated locations could potentially reach 4”+

Those higher-end totals will be highly dependent on exactly where the heaviest rain sets up, so not everyone will see these amounts.

🌡️ TEMPERATURES:
Expect a noticeably cooler weekend, with temperatures generally in the 60s and 70s across the region.

25 years ago today, I was sitting in my brother’s living room watching TV while going over names for a new entrepreneurial venture I was starting.

I landed on The Gutter Boys.

My sister-in-law didn’t like the name because, as she pointed out, I was a man—not a boy. But I thought it was catchy, so I stuck with it.

Moments later, everything changed.

We watched as our country was attacked on September 11, 2001.

It’s strange how certain moments become permanently etched into your memory. I’ll always remember where I was that morning, what I was doing, and the emotions that followed as we watched the events unfold.

Today marks 25 years since that terrible day—and, for me personally, 25 years since the very beginning of The Gutter Boys.

A lot has changed in those 25 years. But I will never forget that morning.

God bless the victims, their families, our first responders, and the United States of America.

10:02 PM — This snapshot represents projected radar at 2:00 AM, and if this model verifies, we’re looking at widespread strong to severe storms actively rolling across the region. This is a high‑energy overnight setup.

I’m likely tapping out after this update because, unfortunately, I do have to be a functioning adult at work tomorrow. If things suddenly go off the rails, I’ll do my best to jump back in.

🌩️ DERECHO / MCS POTENTIAL: JULY 3RD–6TH

Alright… before anyone panics, NO, I am not telling you to cancel your 4th of July cookouts, fireworks, parades, or backyard slip‑n‑slides.
This is just a “here’s what we’re watching because the pattern is spicy” kind of post.

🔥 First: The Heat Dome
Extreme heat takes over starting June 30th, lasting through July 3rd (maybe even the 4th). During this stretch, things look mostly quiet, just your classic pop‑up storms each afternoon. Nothing widespread. Nothing organized. Just summer being summer.

💥 But THEN… the dome starts to crack
As the heat dome begins to break down, a couple of strong cold fronts try to bulldoze their way in.
And when you mix:

*Extreme heat
*Extreme humidity
*Extreme instability
*A fast‑moving corridor of wind riding the dome’s edge
…you get a setup that can support an MCS or even a derecho.

🌪️ What’s an MCS?
A Mesoscale Convective System - basically a big cluster of storms that can organize into a bowing line and produce widespread wind damage. Think: “A thunderstorm blob that decides it wants to go on a road trip.”

A derecho is just the overachieving version of that long‑lived, fast‑moving, and wind‑driven.

⚠️ Could this happen on the 4th of July?
Yes. Could it also completely miss us? Also yes.

We have the instability, we have the humidity, we have the wind, and we have the pattern. We just need the lift and that’s the wildcard.

Do NOT cancel your plans.

This is just a fun, early look at a pattern that could produce a big storm complex sometime between July 3rd–6th.

We’ll keep watching it together because honestly, that’s half the fun of this page.
