🧂That salt melting your ice?
It’s also quietly wrecking your driveway. So, don’t use the whole bag, Kyle. 🙄
When salt melts ice, it lowers the freezing point of water and makes salty water that seeps into tiny pores and cracks in your concrete.
⬇️ ⬇️ Then temperatures drop again… like this weekend. 🥶
💧That water refreezes, expands, and pops the surface from the inside out.
🔨 I once blamed my son for chipping the driveway with a hammer and realized later it was because of the freeze-thaw cycle. I’m sure that’ll come out in therapy someday lol 🥴
**Freeze-Thaw Cycle**
🔁 Over-and-over-and-over and it starts flaking, chipping, & cracking.
Salt supercharges it.
Most damage isn’t from one snowstorm… it’s from years of “just a little salt”. (Looking at you, Kyle)
⚠️ Bottom line:
Salt’s great for safety & melting… but overusing ruins driveways, destroy concrete and if you’re like me, it’s why you have to spray for weeds in the summer.
It’s also like $5-$10k+ to resurface a driveway! 🤯
Use traction when you can.
Save salt for when you need it.
Don’t slip & fall in the process.
