The sunsets just look amazing here in Kentucky! This Christmas we were able to put together some walls and level the boxes that we made during Thanksgiving! Next step filling them with mulch and dirt and eventually some beautiful flowers!

Turkey and flower boxes! We got through about ten 4x8x12 boxes getting ready for a flower farm my sister and brother-in-law are starting in Kentucky. Lavender and Leafery is their name. You should check out some of the beautiful bouquets Emily puts together. This time next year this farm will be a stunning collection of dahlias among many other varieties. #

It might get a bit redundant showing all the windows but we did about 23 sills in a house up in Shaftsbury all with the same style. Team did a great job of taking apart the kreg screws in the back of all the old casing to remove and cut the bottle piece to accommodate the new sill. Got it done before the painters!

Here is a little project that was really a big project in Bennington! This addition to the house had dropped over 2 inches on one side because of rot caused by bad flashing on a deck. We had to jack up the house and correct all the floor joists for this one particular area across the entire back of the house and hopefully correct all the other areas that had settled over the last 10 years. The deck in front of the house is a temporary structure to have them step out and will probably be expanded next year after the winter.

Small bulkhead stair job in Bennington Howard and Devon was able to take care of last week. No middle stringer and a good amount of rot was making these stairs a little unsafe. We removed all the rotted blocks and added hydraulic cement to a crack that was letting moisture into the stairwell. This was a spring loaded bulkhead door that works great! Very heavy duty, they don’t make these the same way these days. Now the stairs should las a long time too.

24 foot Geodesic dome in Bennington Vermont! This example is what it will look like! Platform to be insulated and decked this week. We also dug a surrounding French drain to help funnel the water from the top of the hill to a pond at the bottom. Been a rush to get out before thanksgiving but I’ll throw some pictures up next week. The dome is being shipped from pacific dome on the west coast in about three months. Want to get the deck up before winter. Maybe just another week with the way it’s going.

Just finished up a small job of a basement door for a client out in Ancram NY. It’s a Gordon Steel door ordered from RK miles with an axillary lock so it can open and be locked from the outside. We painted the exterior gray and the hardest part was the broken mortar on the left so we leveled it with pressure treated plates and wrapped and flashed it up to the house. Busy weekend!

One last task! Handrail was rotted on each of the ends so Howard shortened and extended with pieces from another handrail to create a little bit of a Frankenstein‘s handrail. Final coat of aura paint to dry and it gets installed on Monday.

Another pergola, this time out of Cedar! Holes for fasteners filled with plugs and the entire unit painted with linseed oil. Also a new Multi level deck using tiger wood and clear PVC as a top material. The big news here is the hidden trench or French drain that sends all the water from the roof of the house and from the hill out to the outside perimeter of the property. On the last torrential rain storm no rain got into the basement! This was not a cheap deck to build but it is one that will last a lifetime. There will be a couple of steps down on each side of the deck to make the drop a little more comfortable at the entranceways of the deck soon. I am very proud of Howard, Jason, Olivier, and James for all their hard work. I really loved being part of the design.

Well the Pergola in New York is finished! we are waiting for a more weatherproof cover for shade then the painters canvas that we threw up for the week. Thanks David and especially Jason in getting all the work done quickly and thoroughly. We may be adding a bench or bar underneath that’s some point. With the price of lumber pressure treated is definitely a good way to go to get started on a pergola.

The rain pushed everyone inside. Worked out better on all the posts for the upper handrails. Everything is more controlled in the shop. Wood posts with PVC trim at the bottom to help fix the rot from sitting snow. These posts are going to be beautiful. Great job Howard Jason and Olivier.
