This is a crappy picture of a Deschutes county sheriff's truck at the end of the road Silver Rail Elementary sits on. The school is about 300 yards from our shop. I had mixed thoughts on posting something about this as a business but people keep reaching out about the school shooting and offering well wishes.

Seeing the aftermath of something like this is so much different than reading about it. Seeing the faces of parents turning around in our parking lot as they try to get to a spot to find out about their child. Seeing the ambulances leave the school in silence. Then the collection of flowers where the squad car was yesterday. It's heavy for sure.

Thankfully the extended Abbey crew is all physically safe and sound. The mental side of this will take some time.

Having traveled around the world a bit over the last 20 years for races and talking to people about this uniquely American tragedy it's rather irie to experience it in the flesh. If you think this can't happen in your American town, you're in denial.

We have our brake facers back in stock. All backorders have been shipped and we've got plenty of inventory.

We make these blanks in house and then send them off to a tool grinder in the Portland area to get the teeth ground. They come back so shiny.

I suppose hot is relative. Your oven at home gets hot but it sure doesn't glow bright orange! 1750*freedom degrees

We're finishing up the blanks for the new brake facers today. We machine these in house and then have the teeth ground at a specialist shop in Portlandia. Thanks to everyone that's being patient for us to make more and even to the people that aren't so patient. Looking good for a restock in the 2nd week of October.

dub cranks don't stand a chance!

We've got modern electric impacts but for tasks in the shop I'll always go for a pneumatic one. Smaller, lighter, faster and just easier on the body. Definitely helps that we've got nearly 60cfm of compressor output.

New tools!

We've got a couple of new widgets for the MADE show this weekend. First up is the new post mount facer. This little feller will clean paint and square the face relative to the thread. These sold out super fast but we're taking orders for the next batch.

Next up we have a presta valve core tool. Sure pliers work but a nice little tool never hurt anyone. There's even room inside to store a pair of valve cores.

Making Team Issue Hammers again. Hands down the silliest thing we've ever been asked to make but at the same time, they're pretty fun to make and great to swing around. The boss man doing a pretty good job stacking those dimes.

It's with sadness that we share the news of Randy Villanueva passing away. Might seem like an odd thing for us to share but Randy was part of Abbeys origin, a group of friends that traveled around the United States making road races happen. This group of people helped shape the company we are today in ways that are to describe.

I worked with Randy at Bissell Pro Cycling and Smart Stop, shared many a hotel room with the guy. He was quick to grab a hammer, still the only person I've seen cut steer tubes with a sawzall, really damn good at working on bikes and a hard worker. He might have been an acquired taste but he was as solid as they come.

Happy trails Randy, happy trails.
