Our hearts are broken for the Silver Rail Elementary and our community.
On Thursday, three children and a beloved teacher were taken from us, and a student and another teacher were seriously injured. There’s nothing we can say that will make sense of a loss like this. What we can do is stand with the families, the students, the teachers and staff, and the first responders who rushed in to help, and keep standing with them in the weeks and months ahead.
Silver Rail is more than a school. It’s a neighborhood, a place where so many Bend families have put down roots, and its loss is felt in every corner of this town.

To every parent who held their kids a little tighter this week: you’re not alone. Be gentle with yourselves, check on your neighbors, and lean on each other. That’s what Bend does.
