We had a great time volunteering at Cleveland Commons in Bend! 🙌

This is a community we helped design that opened in early 2025, so it was really special to come back over a year later and experience it with the people who call it home.

Our team hosted a casual Bingo afternoon and brought pizza. Things started slow, but we ended up connecting with a number of residents, playing a few rounds, and having some great conversations along the way.

It was also a really meaningful team bonding experience. Spending time together outside of our usual work and connecting directly with residents reminded us why we do what we do.

We loved seeing how the community spaces are being used and hearing a few inspiring resident success stories. Huge shoutout to the onsite staff who are doing incredible work every day to support this community.

✨ Community Spotlight: Cleveland Commons ✨
This week, we had the opportunity to hear powerful stories from Central Oregonians with lived experience of houselessness. One story that truly stood out was Sheree’s — a reminder of the courage, resilience, and community support that make real transformation possible.

Sheree once lived in an RV outside Redmond with her beloved animals. Leaving them behind felt impossible, and like so many others, her pets were her comfort, her security, and her family. With the help of local partners, she was able to safely rehome many of them and move into Cleveland Commons, where her journey toward healing began.

Since moving in, Sheree has found stability, safety, sobriety, and a sense of family. She’s now an active part of the Cleveland Commons community and is even starting a nonprofit to make sure every shelter dog in Central Oregon gets a Christmas gift.

Cleveland Commons isn’t just housing. It’s a place where people are seen, supported, and connected. It shows what’s possible when communities invest in compassionate design and meet people exactly where they are.

One message from the forum that stuck with us:
