One of the questions we hear most, and a fair one to ask the week the gray rolls in.

Brandon has the full answer in the video.

The short version is YES.

Panels run on daylight, and we get plenty of it over a year. We've also been installing here since 2002, which would be a strange business plan otherwise.

Whether it works for your house is a separate question. We'll give you an honest answer on that one too.

Earth Win of the Week: One Million Trees and a Forest Reborn!

In Brazil's Atlantic Forest, conservationists have spent two decades restoring degraded land, planting one million native trees across more than 1,700 acres. An incredible 95% of their planted saplings have survived to maturity.

What was once pasture is becoming a thriving forest again, restoring wetlands, protecting waterways and welcoming wildlife back.

Imagine what that kind of commitment can accomplish right here at home.

That's why we're so proud to partner with Whatcom Million Trees Project. Their volunteers and supporters are planting native trees, protecting mature forests and restoring the landscapes that make our corner of the world so special.

And their impact is already real. They've helped protect nearly 200,000 existing trees through conservation of forestland in the Lake Whatcom watershed.

These are the kinds of results that come from people working together, year after year, with a vision that reaches well beyond their own involvement.

We're grateful for the work Whatcom Million Trees is doing and excited to be part of it.

Imagine the forests, wildlife and healthy watersheds we can leave for the next generation if we keep showing up.

Youthnet’s new solar array is a great example of what solar can do for our community. By lowering energy costs at its Mount Vernon campus, Youthnet can put more resources toward supporting young people and families across Western Washington.

We’re proud of our Western Solar team for bringing this project to life, and grateful for our continued partnership with Puget Sound Energy. Together, we’ve completed several community solar projects in Whatcom and Skagit counties. Each one shows how local partnerships can turn clean energy into lasting benefits for the organizations doing important work here.

If you’re considering solar for your home or organization, we’d be proud to help you make it happen.

Sometimes we look at a house and tell the homeowner to wait.

Maybe the roof needs replacing first. Maybe the numbers don't pencil yet. Either way, we'd rather tell you now than sell you something that doesn't fit.

You're welcome to ask us anyway. Honesty is always the best policy!

Some installs carry a little extra meaning.

This one is for , a Mount Vernon nonprofit that walks alongside foster youth and families across Western Washington. Their new 83.3 kW array should produce around 83,000 kWh a year, and every dollar they don't spend on power can go back to the kids and families they serve.

Thanks to the Youthnet team for having us, and to for helping make it happen.

The work of growing a forest depends on people who keep showing up, and on practical support that helps them do it. We’re proud to share our space with Whatcom Million Trees Project and help their volunteers keep this work growing here in Whatcom County.

Join them this Sunday, October 18, from 12 to 3 at the Whatcom Humane Society’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, or come out on a future Sunday.

This is the way. 😉

More than 2,000 panels across five , all in a single summer. Kids in this town are going to school under panels our neighbors installed. We think about that a lot :)

Earth Win of the Week: The buffalo are coming home!

This week, 50 American bison were released onto nearly 40,000 acres of prairie in South Dakota’s Badlands, part of a Lakota-led effort to restore the land and reconnect with an important part of their heritage.

Bison once roamed North America by the tens of millions. Their near disappearance changed more than the landscape. It disrupted entire ecosystems across the Great Plains

And bringing them back takes work.

Years of planning, restoring habitat, studying soil health, and preparing the land led to this week’s release.

Bison are a keystone species. Their grazing, movement and even the depressions they create in the soil help support native plants, insects and wildlife.

The ecological results will take time, but 50 buffalo are roaming this prairie again, with plans for hundreds more.

Restoration isn’t always about creating something new. Sometimes it’s about bringing back what belongs.

What an Earth Win!

Thunder Valley CDC released 50 bison onto nearly 40,000 acres leased from the Oglala Sioux Tribe, starting a plan for nearly 400 head.

Every solar company says it's local. Here's a quick way to check.

Ask where their office is, and ask who shows up when something needs fixing in year eight.

Our answer to both has been the same since 2002: right here in Bellingham, and us.
