Meet James D 🌳

James first joined Charron Tree Service in 2017 and has worked his way up to become one of our experienced climbers & crane hangers. He’s been in the tree industry for 10 years — but his interest in the work started long before that.

When he was just four years old, he remembers watching tree guys climbing in his grandfather’s backyard and thinking that was exactly what he wanted to do someday. Years later, he saw a help-wanted ad in the paper and got his start with a rake and a barrel. From there, he worked his way up, learning the industry hands-on and taking every opportunity to improve.

Today, James says his strongest skill is climbing and aerial work, and if he had to pick a favorite role, there’s no question:

“Definitely hanging from the crane.”

His favorite piece of equipment to run is the Vermeer mini skid steer ,but some of his most memorable days have been high above the ground. One job in particular stands out a challenging two-day project working with a 115-ton Crane.

“I felt more accomplished after that job than I had in a very long time.”

One thing James wishes people understood about tree work is just how physically AND mentally demanding it really is.

“We make it look easy, but there’s a lot more to it than people realize.”

And his advice for anyone thinking about getting into the tree industry?

Have the drive to excel, the ambition to learn, pay attention to the experienced guys around you, and don’t be afraid to get in there and do it. You learn this job by getting out in the field and putting in the work.

From starting out with a rake and a barrel to hanging from a 115-ton crane — James is a great example of what can happen when someone is willing to learn, work hard, and keep pushing themselves to the limit.

Meet Joe V🌳

With 38 years in the tree industry and the last 2½ years at Charron Tree Service, Joe brings a lifetime of experience, knowledge, and passion to every property he visits.

Joe’s journey into tree work began as a teenager, working after school and on weekends for Timber Tree Service, a company owned by the father of his best friend, CJ. Those early experiences sparked a career that has now spanned nearly four decades.

As the years went on, Joe worked his way up through the industry and eventually became the manager of CJ Tree, a company owned by CJ. After losing his best friend, Joe took time to reflect on everything he’d learned throughout his career and realized his true passion was in sales and management, helping homeowners bring their vision for their property to life.

Today, as one of our estimators, Joe enjoys meeting with customers, listening to their goals, and finding the best solutions for their property. Whether it’s improving curb appeal, creating a safer landscape, or completely transforming a yard, he loves helping customers see what’s possible.

One of the things Joe enjoys most about working at Charron Tree Service is getting to know new communities and meeting new people. Every property presents a new opportunity, and that’s what keeps the job exciting.

When asked what value is most important to him, Joe didn’t hesitate, Honesty! His advice is just as simple: “Safety first, curb appeal second.”
