Tired of the "college or bust" script? You aren't alone. 🎓⚡

Students and adults have been told a four-year university is the only path to a successful future. The reality? Many end up stuck in a career rut or carrying heavy student loans, while the skilled trades face a historic demand for talent.
Joining the trades isn’t just manual labor—it’s highly analytical problem-solving with a clear path to independence. Best of all, trade schools and apprenticeships mean entering the workforce with significantly less debt while earning a paycheck from day one.
Whether you are just starting out or looking to pivot your career at 45, the trades have a place for you. While our team isn't currently hiring apprentices, we are proud champions of this industry.

Extension cords.... great temporary solution, TERRIBLE long term solution....
Who was the first person/people you thought of when you read "extension cords"?
We have seen this in MANY homes as well as businesses.... extension cords are made to be a temporary resolution, not a long term or permanent solution.
If you have a problem causing you to use an extension cord indefinitely, please have us out for a quick look... our $200 minimum charge is significantly less than the devastation a fire will cause. Our team will NEVER pressure you into a service that is unnecessary, but they will always give you the safest recommendations with financial consideration.
Please do not compromise your family's safety because you are concerned about cost, we always put safety first!

Meet the owner of Sota Electric—when he’s not seeing the world through Romex-colored glasses, he’s out enjoying everything Minnesota has to offer!
Hey neighbors! I'm Sean, the face behind the company. I might goof around with on the job site, but I take your home’s electrical safety incredibly seriously.
When I’m not wiring up EV chargers or upgrading electrical panels, I enjoy hunting, fishing and football- though I never seem to have enough time for any of them…
Home is a different kind of wild! I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years, and together we raise 3 chaotic, awesome kids (9-5… their age range, not the hours we parent them 🙃). Our crew also includes 2 dogs, a few chickens, and way too many barn cats. 🐶🐔🐈
When you hire Sota Electric, you’re supporting a true local family business. Our entire team treats every client's home with the same care and precision I give my own patch of paradise.

What qualities do you consider when hiring a service?

💡 Flickering lights aren't just annoying—they can be a warning sign. If your lights flicker when the AC or microwave kicks on, you likely have a loose connection or an overloaded circuit in your panel. Don't ignore it; loose connections cause heat buildup.

🌧️ Check your outdoor outlets! 🌧
Exterior outlets need heavy-duty, weatherproof "while-in-use" covers to keep rain out even when things are plugged in. Flaps that stay open leave your home vulnerable to shorts.

PSA: If you’re still climbing ladders to replace smoke detector batteries every year, it’s time for an upgrade!
Did you know that smoke detectors have an expiration date? They actually lose their effectiveness and need to be completely replaced every 10 years. If you can't remember the last time yours were changed, they are likely overdue.
We can easily upgrade your home to modern, hardwired smoke detectors equipped with reliable battery backups—so you are protected even if the power goes out.
BONUS: We have a few open slots this month! Book your safety upgrade today, and we’ll give you one of our custom Sota Electric portable power banks when we finish the job.
Don’t wait until the chirping starts at 2 AM.
