After many years of construction experience, you stop being able to walk into a building without reading it.
Not in a critical way, just observationally. We notice how a ceiling plane meets a wall. Whether the finish transitions make sense. Where the mechanical systems probably run. What decisions were made early that are showing up here, at the end.
That's not something you develop intentionally. It accumulates. And once it's there, it shapes everything in how you evaluate a project, how you read a set of plans, how you catch a problem before it's poured into concrete.
For an owner, that accumulated eye is part of what they're getting when they hire an experienced builder like us. It just doesn't show up on a bid sheet.
