💧 Well Wisdom Wednesday 💧

Myth: "If my neighbor has great water, my well will too."

Fact: Two wells drilled just a few hundred feet apart can have completely different water quality and production. Underground rock formations, fractures, and groundwater flow vary from property to property, making every well unique.

That's why nearby wells can provide helpful information—but they can never guarantee what your well will produce.

🇺🇸 Holiday Hours Notice 🇺🇸

As Independence Day approaches, we'd like to let our customers know that Barlow Well Drilling will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the July 4th holiday.

While our office will be closed, we understand that water emergencies don't always wait for business hours. Our team will be monitoring our voicemail for emergencies with no water throughout the holiday weekend. We will have limited technicians available, but we will respond to emergency situations as soon as possible.

If you experience a no water emergency, please leave a detailed voicemail with your name, phone number, and address, and the on-call technician will return your call as soon as possible.

Did you know? Maryland is currently experiencing dry conditions, and groundwater levels in many areas are running lower than normal, which is a reminder that every drop counts when it comes to protecting our water supply.

Rain does not immediately replenish wells or aquifers as many people assume—in most groundwater systems here, it can take roughly 3 to 6 months for rainfall to actually percolate through soil and rock before it begins to impact well levels. Because of this delay, what falls today is not what your well is using tomorrow, and dry conditions can continue to affect water supplies even after rain returns.

Simple actions like fixing leaks, limiting outdoor watering, and being mindful of daily use all make a real difference while the aquifer system naturally recharges, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to help conserve this shared resource.

We had a great time today visiting a local elementary school and bringing one of our drill rigs out for the kids to see up close.

They got to watch how the rig moves and learn a little about what we do every day here at Barlow Well Drilling.
It’s always a good time showing the next generation how things work and giving them a look at hands-on trades.

Being part of this community means more than just doing the work — it’s about showing up, getting involved, and supporting local schools however we can.

Thanks for having us out — we appreciate the opportunity to be a small part of their day.
