❄️ Winter Storm Prep for Your Septic System ❄️
With freezing temperatures headed our way, a little preparation now can help prevent frozen lines, backups, and expensive repairs.

Here’s how to protect your septic system during cold weather:

✅ Keep water use consistent
Regular daily use helps prevent pipes from freezing. Avoid long periods of zero use.

✅ Fix leaks ASAP
Dripping faucets or running toilets push cold water through the system nonstop and increase freeze risk.

✅ Spread out water use
Wash laundry in smaller loads over several days instead of all at once.

✅ Leave snow alone
Snow actually insulates the ground. Avoid driving, parking, or plowing over your tank or drain field.

✅ Do NOT pour chemicals down drains🚩🚩
Antifreeze, ice melt, or additives can damage your system and won’t prevent freezing.

⚠️ Warning signs of a frozen system:
• Slow drains
• Gurgling toilets
• Sewage odors
• Backups into tubs or sinks
