Today I have secured another “New” customer.
His reason for choosing me was actually something that I have always done on every job and for every customer. Clear communication is one thing but providing details of what is expected from both parties a definitive scope of work being performed. Now I’m used to providing that information upfront and clearly showing the customer what the project requires to be completed properly and what I will be doing professionally to complete it. I have the advantage of 15 years experience at a very large HVAC Corporation called Cii Service it’s actually an acronym for
Commercial industrial and institutional
As one of the largest and advanced companies on the east coast this company submitted very high service rates. These bills were filed to corporate every Monday morning. The service technician who worked on site was responsible for the entire labor portion of the bill and was responsible for the explanation of the service and what was involved to complete it. The company policy was that every Technician who worked on it paid by the company to complete it on site before leaving every day even if the job was not completed.
The reason for this policy was very simple. The labor rates were some of the highest in the industry…
Which is why the customer needs very clear documentation and specific information about why their bill was high. I found it then and still today that it’s the absolute best policy for so many different reasons. The most important one however is that the customer knows that he is getting what he paid for.
My second runner up is also very simple it’s to insure that I can prove that the work I contracted is completed and correctly thoroughly documented so it’s never disputable and if it’s disputed any 3rd party will be able to prove it was done properly.
My customers enjoy the 32 years of experience in this industry as well as a level of communication and transparency that most other simply won’t ever attempt. The reason they don’t is the labor and material costs are inflated to cover their overhead costs and the cost of future growth. These reasons are the standard practices of any company that has more than 7-10 employees. The practice is a solid business model and it works. I personally have the advantage on billing and quotes due to the fact that I have less overhead costs.I show my customers exactly how much that I pay for any material or equipment
I provide invoices to all my customers so that they know how much I increase the cost exactly. This business model I have builds trust from the very beginning. Thanks for reading this and I look forward to earning your trust and business.
