Yellowjackets hiding inside a wall?

We used thermal imaging to help locate this hidden nest before treating it.

Just another day in Beaverton, Oregon.

My daughter found out I was treating a bald-faced hornet nest and decided to make me a little something to keep me safe.

Honestly, pretty solid protection.

I think I made them mad.

These bald-faced hornets weren’t too happy after we treated their nest in Beaverton, Oregon.

Caught something interesting on a trail camera in Beaverton.

Night after night, a rat shows up. Minutes later, an opossum follows.

Coincidence, or is this opossum stalking the rat?

Ever wonder how well these yellowjacket traps actually work?

We conducted a highly scientific experiment.

The results seem pretty conclusive.

Not all yellowjackets are the same.

Workers. Queens. Drones.

And here’s the wild part: male yellowjackets (drones) can’t sting.

A look inside a yellowjacket colony here in the Portland area.

One is built like a tank. The other is built to climb.

But can you tell which one showed up on this camera?

Norway rat or roof rat?

What Happens When You Disturb a Yellowjacket Nest?

This yard looked pretty peaceful.

Hidden underneath the ferns was an active yellowjacket nest. Within about 10 minutes of starting treatment, the area looked completely different.

Sometimes the biggest pest problems are the ones you can’t see.

Three traps tripped with nothing in them. So what’s going on?

Inside this Beaverton crawlspace, the evidence tells the story. A small entry point, signs of rats traveling along the pipes and HVAC, and a few clues that help determine exactly where the traps should go.

Rat control isn’t just about setting traps. It’s about figuring out how they’re getting in and where they’re moving.

Some paper wasps apparently prefer the penthouse.

Our technician found these nests tucked way up along the roofline and took care of them before they had a chance to get any more comfortable.

Just another day looking up.
