I don't enjoy making this post. But it probably needs to be said.

While working on a house this past Sunday, and I received this DM from a guy in response to a post that I made on one of my community pages. He seemed disgusted with the treatment that he's experienced from "handymen". Rightly so.
He assumed that I was another Beer Money Bob and I can't blame him based on his past disappointments.

This is why I don't like calling myself a Handyman anymore. My new run of business cards will look different and you won't see "handyman" anywhere.

My advice to the community:
When looking for a contractor, check out the DPOR database and see if they're listed. If they aren't, they don't carry a contractor's license and are legally limited in what they can do. Look for them on the SCC database for their business license. Ask to see their insurance policy. It will save you time, headaches, and more than likely money in the long run.

In the 12 months that I've been don't this gig, I've missed zero appointments.

One time I found him on the roof, playing with the ladder straps. Testing for compliance I’m sure.

I never have heard of a Ranch Pool until this. I’ve seen folks use stock tanks and turn them into a pool, but not a full-on filtered, heated and cooled kit.
I was asked to build some steps leading into one out of composite and happily got to work.

Shutter restoration on a gorgeous farmhouse in Hanover.
The shutter had come apart, and needed a complete rebuild. Most of the louvers were on the ground below, and some had disappeared altogether. I replaced them with oak, tightened up the stiles and rails, primed, and painted to match the existing.
