We are living in a new build, and as a painter one of the first things I noticed was that the bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room all had a flat finish on the wall. These are high moisture areas that at the minimum require an eggshell finish. Flat unfortunately is still porous, so this means that the moisture can still seep into the wall leading to mold and mildew problems. I understand builders goal is build the houses as quick as possible, but I did want to share the importance of adding sheen to these areas to help protect your home, especially if it’s a new build! Let me know if you need help with this, or guidance on how you can do this yourself. Would love to help!
