Today, Camp Valor Adventure Healing remembers and honors Army Sgt. 1st Class Gregory A. Rodriguez, 35, of Weidman, Michigan.

SFC Rodriguez was assigned to the K-9 unit of the 527th Military Police Company, 709th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade in Ansbach, Germany.

On September 2, 2008, he died from wounds sustained in Ana Kalay, Afghanistan, when his mounted patrol came under small-arms fire.

He left behind a wife, three children, family, friends, and fellow service members who carried the weight of his loss long after the battlefield went silent.

Eighteen years later, we remember his name, his service, and his sacrifice.

Please take a moment to share his story so that SFC Gregory A. Rodriguez is never forgotten.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month.

At Camp Valor Adventure Healing, our mission has a special focus on veterans, first responders, and their families. But su***de does not affect only one group. It can touch any family, friendship, workplace, or community.

Check on the veterans in your life, but do not stop there. Check on your friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors. Make the call. Start the conversation. Sit with them. Sometimes simply showing up can make a difference.

If you or someone you know is struggling, Contact CVAH OR call/text 988. Veterans can press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line.

No one should have to fight this battle alone.

Some warriors come home. Some remain forever with their brothers.

USS Arizona survivor Raymond Haerry survived the attack on Pearl Harbor and carried the memory of that day for the rest of his life. When his time came, his final wish brought him back to where so many of his shipmates still rest.

His granddaughter carried his ashes nearly 5,000 miles to Pearl Harbor and said goodbye one final time as he was returned to the USS Arizona, reunited in eternal rest with the men he served beside.

At Camp Valor, we believe the bond between those who served does not end when the uniform comes off, and it does not end with death.

We remember them. We honor them. We carry them with us.

Today, Camp Valor remembers and honors the 13 American service members killed at Abbey Gate on August 26, 2021.

Their sacrifice, and the families who carry that loss every day, must never be forgotten.

Whatever our politics, we owe those who serve something better: leadership worthy of their sacrifice, accountability when failures occur, and a commitment to never send Americans into harm’s way without a clear mission and purpose.

We remember the 13. We honor their service. We will not forget. 🇺🇸

This is scary....

New data from America’s Warrior Partnership’s Operation Deep Dive continues to challenge what we thought we knew about veteran su***de.

Their research estimates the true number could be as high as 44 former service members lost every day, with su***de rates potentially 37% higher than previously reported by the VA when deaths classified as overdoses, accidents, or other self-injury mortality are examined.

At Camp Valor, numbers like this are exactly why we believe we have to reach veterans before they reach the point of crisis. Community connection, peer support, licensed mental health care, family involvement, and simply checking on each other all matter.

And sometimes it does not take some big intervention.

The other day I was in my own head, just going about my business and working on a speech. I was a little down. Nothing serious, just one of those moments. A gas station attendant gave me a small compliment and it instantly lifted my spirit.

Do not discount the power of a kind word.

Break the cycle. Reach out. Call a buddy. Call family. Call anyone. And if you see somebody struggling, say something. Sometimes one small interaction can change the direction of somebody’s entire day.

Whether the number is 17, 22, or 44, one veteran lost is one too many.

There’s still time to experience The National Military Monument™ in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

Presented by USAA on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, this powerful and immersive tribute honors more than 41 million Americans who have answered our nation’s call to serve, from the Revolutionary War to today.

The monument will remain open through November 12, extending through Veterans Day.

If you’re in Washington, D.C. this fall, take the time to experience it and remember the generations of Americans who have worn the uniform.

From all of us at Camp Valor Adventure Healing, we honor those who served, those still serving, and the families who stood beside them.
