Inside Slate’s Massive Warsaw Factory! 🏭⚡️

The doors to Slate’s massive Warsaw facility just opened to the press, and the numbers coming out of the 1.4-million-square-foot plant are nothing short of incredible!

Here is a quick look behind the scenes at how production is coming together:

The Robot Workforce: There are currently 374 robots installed in the body shop alone, with plans to push past 400 using AI-assisted simulation to optimize their movements and speed up the manufacturing process.

Local Jobs & Growth: The plant currently employs 575 full-time workers, with 70% to 80% hailing from the local Warsaw area and aims to scale past 2,000 employees as operations ramp up.

Expansion & Validation: A 130,000-square-foot expansion is wrapping up just in time for production startup. Trucks are already being assembled on-site for validation testing!

As Jeff Jablansky, head of PR, perfectly summed it up: "Something that was literally a sketch 3.5 years ago, this is a culmination of something really big."

Richard Symons recently took his five-year-old Tesla Model 3 on a 260-mile road trip across England without having to stop for a charge.

A new electric vehicle could make the trip no-problem. But Symons’s car—which he has affectionately nicknamed “Miles”—has logged 247,000 miles and is still up for frequent long-distance drives.

Symons, the owner of a U.K.-based used-car sales company that specializes in EVs, has found that the batteries that power these cars continue to perform well even after several hundred thousand miles. This has come as a welcome surprise to him and other EV enthusiasts.

“They are proving themselves to be exceptionally reliable,” Symons said.

After five years on the road, the average EV will still be able to drive up to 95% of its original range, according to Recurrent, a data-science company that provides a battery-monitoring tool for EVs—better than many in the auto industry expected.
