When you know the ending, you often miss the story. Most people's exposure to Stockton Rush was after his death, when the blame was (rightfully) piling up. It's comfortable to have a simple villain to revile, because "obviously, that person was just wrong and I would never do that." Reality is often not that simple, and others have failed but were not under the international media's microscope.
