Boilers affect every day life in SO many ways. One kind-of-gross but important job boilers perform is waste water treatment. Sewage in Baton Rouge drains into two main treatment plants, where boilers supply heat and steam to help anaerobic bacteria break down solid waste inside large sealed tanks. Many wastewater treatment plants actually run their boilers using methane-rich gas created from the digestion process of waste materials.
T&W regularly works on local waste water treatment plant boilers, performing regular maintenance and emergency repair.

Check out this Cleaver Brooks boiler that our technicians are troubleshooting! The dark stain on the bottom left indicates leaking tubes. Boiler tubes will leak if too much scale builds up and prevents heat transfer from the fire to the water.

Regular maintenance and blowdowns will prevent leaking tubes. In a situation like this where the tubes are already damaged and leaking, a boiler can be re-tubed. Retubing is cheaper than replacing a boiler, but it is still an expensive fix. The best way to save money is to schedule regular maintenance so boilers can be protected before tubes are damaged beyond repair. If you’re ready to protect your boiler, call T&W today!

This water softening system is a critical component of boiler longevity. Water softener helps decrease the amount of scale in the boiler by removing the natural minerals found in water. T&W installs a water softening system on every new boiler.
