Williams Architecture is honored to celebrate the completion of the O.W. Dillon Memorial Museum and North Tangipahoa Emergency Preparedness Center, a transformative $3 million state-funded renovation project in Tangipahoa Parish.

Spanning approximately 26,000 square feet, the project involved the complete interior and exterior rehabilitation of the former O.W. Dillon School campus—an institution of profound historical significance as the first African American school in Tangipahoa Parish.

For generations, O.W. Dillon School served as a beacon of education, opportunity, and community pride. Named in honor of educator and visionary O.W. Dillon, the campus played a pivotal role in expanding educational opportunities for African American students throughout North Tangipahoa and remains an enduring symbol of perseverance, achievement, and community investment.

Today, that legacy has been preserved for future generations. The former school building has been transformed into the O.W. Dillon Memorial Museum, where the stories, accomplishments, and contributions of students, educators, and community leaders can continue to inspire visitors for years to come.

The campus' former gymnasium has been repurposed into the North Tangipahoa Emergency Preparedness Center, providing a facility dedicated to serving and protecting the community during times of need.

We are grateful for the opportunity to help preserve this important landmark and contribute to a project that celebrates history, strengthens community resilience, and ensures the legacy of O.W. Dillon continues to live on.

Williams Architecture is proud to showcase the completed 7,600 SF Auxiliary Gymnasium at the CSAL Elementary School campus.

Designed as a pre-engineered metal building system, the new facility provides a full basketball court along with supporting restrooms, storage areas, and office space, creating a versatile environment that enhances both educational and athletic opportunities for students and staff.

What began as a vision to expand the functionality of the campus has now become a valuable asset for the CSAL community. The completed facility offers flexible space for athletics, school events, and student activities while supporting the continued growth of the school's programs and mission.

We are honored to have partnered with CSAL in bringing this project from concept to completion and are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to an environment where students can learn, compete, and thrive for years to come.

As many Louisianians travel to Washington, DC for Washington Mardi Gras 2026:

🎭 Did You Know?

For nearly eight decades, the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians (MKOL) has hosted Washington Mardi Gras, bringing Louisiana’s culture, leadership, and civic influence to the nation’s capital. Central to this tradition is the Washington Mardi Gras Ball—one of the largest and most significant public assembly events held in Washington, DC.

In advance of the 2024 Washington Mardi Gras Ball, Williams Architecture was engaged to address a long-standing life safety challenge at the Washington Hilton ballroom. After decades without an official fire marshal–approved exit plan, our team worked closely with local code authorities, MKOL event leadership, event planners, and hotel personnel to design a fully code-compliant interior layout.

The approved design safely accommodated 2,558 occupants, ensuring clear, compliant, and efficient egress in the event of an emergency—supporting MKOL’s commitment to excellence, stewardship, and public safety while preserving the integrity of this historic celebration.

The design was reviewed, approved, and successfully implemented for the January 27, 2024 Washington Mardi Gras Ball.
