Long ago, my husband and I created a game, called Dime Designing. We would select a room in the house that needed redecorating, and oh, they all needed redecorating, build a budget for each item, and present it to each other.
The odd thing about this game is that the winner, who came in with the low bid, had to do the work with his or her own money.
Over the years, we've redecorated every room in the house, some more than once. The piece de resistance was the redecoration of the kitchen, which needed everything -- a hideous floor taken up and resanded and painted, walls and cabinets refinished, a new overhead light fixture, and Something Had to Be Done about the mismatched countertops.
I was the low bid at $432.98.
