Essential Job Responsibilities
Assist directional drilling and excavation crews with all aspects of underground utility construction, including trenching and placing conduit/cable.
Perform utility locating and potholing to positively identify all underground utility crossings prior to excavation, often working in coordination with OHIO811/OUPS requirements.1
Handle and transport materials and equipment required for construction projects.
Perform site cleanup and restoration tasks, including filling and leveling dug areas, and applying seed and straw, to proactively address and minimize potential customer complaints related to yard damage.23
Serve as an on-site point of contact for routine customer inquiries regarding construction mess or immediate restoration needs, escalating complex complaints (e.g., utility strikes, drainage issues) to a Foreman or Project Manager for resolution.2
Follow all required traffic control procedures as directed by the jurisdictional authority and project permits.1
Maintain strict adherence to all company safety manuals and OSHA safety laws, including the proper use of protective gear and equipment.4
Requirements
Physical Strength: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing over 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Driving: Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record to operate company vehicles.
Willingness to perform strenuous physical labor in various outdoor weather conditions.
Proven commitment to safety and following all construction regulations and procedures.
Must be able to comply with site-specific safety and procedural requirements.
