Our Bastrop Passive House is complete! Ready for a good lucky Family!
A passive house (or Passivhaus) is a highly energy-efficient building that achieves thermal comfort with minimal need for active heating and cooling systems by following five core principles: continuous insulation, airtight construction, high-performance windows and doors, thermal bridge-free design, and high-efficiency heat recovery ventilation. These principles drastically reduce energy consumption and emissions compared to conventional homes, leading to significant energy savings and improved indoor air quality.

The Core Principles:
-Continuous Insulation: The building envelope is wrapped in a thick, thermal barrier to minimize heat transfer and maintain a consistent indoor temperature.
-Thermal Bridge-Free Design: Careful construction details are used to prevent "thermal bridges" – areas where heat can easily escape or enter, such as through framing or structural connections.
-Airtight Construction: A continuous air barrier stops uncontrolled air leakage, preventing drafts and heat loss or gain.
-High-Performance Windows and Doors: Windows and doors are designed to be very airtight and provide excellent insulation, while managing solar gain to leverage the sun's energy.
