🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Curtis Hickey at H&S!

Curtis began his career after high school with a scholarship to attend a local welding school. After graduating, he spent 10 years as a non-union boilermaker building water towers before returning home to work at ADM. It was there that he first partnered with fellow H&S team member Tom Petty. Curtis joined the union in 2006/2007 and has since spent more than 26 years in the industry, participating in and witnessing the construction of major projects throughout central Illinois, including local ethanol plants.

Curtis recommends the trades to anyone willing to work hard who wants a good-paying career with strong benefits. His only regret? Not joining the union sooner and gaining those additional years of pension credits.

After 10 years with H&S, Curtis says the company has treated him well — and he plans for H&S to be his last stop in construction.

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Josh Haag at H&S!

Josh’s path to the trades started after a year at ICC, when he transitioned to a local welding school. From there, he joined ADM in Peoria, working alongside several people who are now part of the H&S team. After four or five years working non-union, Bob Cassidy of Steamfitters Local 353 organized Josh into the union — a move Josh calls "one of the best decisions I've ever made."

Ten years into his career with H&S, Josh values the camaraderie, teamwork and financial stability the trades have provided. He especially enjoys seasonal outage work, where tight timelines allow him to put his skills to work — partnering with clients, coordinating H&S resources and accomplishing a lot as a team.

Josh also challenges the misconception that union careers mean frequent layoffs or constant travel: "Be good at what you do, and there’s job security."

What keeps him at H&S? Strong compensation, a team committed to the same goals and leadership that understands the work firsthand because they’ve been in the trades themselves.

Congratulations, Josh, on 10 years with H&S — and thank you for the skill, teamwork and commitment you bring to every job! 👏

⛳️ Driving Hope, One Swing at a Time ❤️💙

Earlier this month, the H&S Industries team was proud to sponsor and participate in the St. Jude Rides Summer Classic Golf Outing held at WeaverRidge Golf Club in Peoria, IL. Every drive, putt and friendly competition on the course helped support a cause that means so much — ensuring that families never receive a bill from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on what matters most: helping their child heal.

We're honored to stand alongside so many generous sponsors, volunteers and golfers who are making a difference for children and families facing unimaginable challenges.
