This 100A breaker was feeding an electric vehicle charger for a Ford F-150 Lightning. At first glance, many people assume, “The breaker overloaded.”

In reality, that’s often not the root cause.

When an EV charges at high current for several hours, it places a continuous load on the entire electrical system. That kind of load will quickly expose any weak point in the installation.

Common causes of damage like this include:

• Loose or improperly torqued terminations
• Conductors not fully seated in the breaker lug
• Damaged or improperly prepared wire
• Heat buildup from a high-resistance connection
• Worn or damaged breaker or bus connections

A poor connection creates resistance, and resistance creates heat. Heat leads to oxidation, which increases resistance even more. Eventually, the connection can fail catastrophically like the one shown here.

This is why torque specifications matter. Electrical connections should never be tightened “by feel.” Manufacturers publish torque values for a reason.

When repairing a failure like this, replacing the breaker alone is not enough. The conductor, breaker, bus connection, charger termination, and installation settings all need to be inspected before the system is placed back into service.

Electrical work isn’t just about making it work—it’s about making it safe and reliable for years to come.

Nice one I found today! Not all three-phase electrical systems are the same. Today’s service call was a great reminder of why electricians should always verify with a meter instead of making assumptions. This was a 120/240V 4-wire High-Leg Delta service, where two phases measured approximately 120V to neutral, while the high leg measured 218V to neutral. Phase-to-phase voltage remained approximately 240V across all three phases. High-leg delta systems are still found in many commercial buildings, and correctly identifying the high leg is critical to prevent accidentally connecting 120V loads to it. Every installation is an opportunity to learn, verify, and leave the system better labeled and safer for the next electrician. Don’t guess—test, verify, and educate.

LinioTech Battery Dolly Review – Powerwall 3 Installation

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 4/5 Stars

We recently used the LinioTech Battery Dolly during a Tesla Powerwall replacement project where we removed a Powerwall 2 and installed a Powerwall 3. After putting it through a real-world installation, I can say it proved to be a valuable tool that helped get the job done safely and efficiently.

Pros

Excellent Lifting System

One of the standout features is the drill-operated lifting mechanism. Using a standard drill to raise and lower the battery worked surprisingly well and provided smooth, controlled movement throughout the installation process.

Solid Construction

The dolly feels sturdy and well-built. When handling heavy battery systems like Tesla Powerwalls, stability is critical, and the LinioTech unit inspired confidence while maneuvering and positioning the battery.

Effective Ratcheting Features

The integrated ratcheting system secured the battery well and made positioning adjustments easier. Once strapped in, the battery remained stable during transport and installation.

Budget-Friendly Alternative

For installers who may not be ready to invest in Tesla’s dedicated Powerwall Dolly, the LinioTech offers a practical and much more affordable alternative while still accomplishing the task effectively.

Great Customer Support

When we encountered setup questions, LinioTech’s customer service was responsive and helpful. They were able to get us pointed in the right direction quickly, which made a positive impression.

Cons

Limited Assembly Instructions

The biggest drawback was the lack of detailed setup information. The manual could definitely be improved with clearer instructions, assembly diagrams, and operational guidance.

Missing Hardware Concerns

Our unit appeared to be missing some hardware. As experienced installers, we were able to fabricate a small component to keep the project moving, but not every user may have that capability.

Despite a few setup challenges, the LinioTech Battery Dolly performed well where it mattered most—moving and positioning a heavy Tesla Powerwall safely and effectively. The drill-assisted lift system, sturdy construction, and ratcheting features make it a useful tool for battery installers looking for a cost-effective solution.

With improved documentation and better quality control regarding included hardware, this could easily become a top recommendation in its category.

For now, I give the LinioTech Battery Dolly 4 out of 5 stars. We plan to continue using it on future installations and would purchase it again. While we’d eventually like to transition to Tesla’s dedicated Powerwall Dolly, the LinioTech fills an important gap in a market where there are very few options available for handling these large battery systems.

I think I’ve finally gotten over the butterflies that come with moving Tesla battery systems. Between their size and weight, I was always a little nervous handling them. But with the proper equipment, support, and experience, we’ve moved past that phase and are making great progress on this installation.

Our team enjoys these challenging projects and looks forward to helping more customers achieve reliable backup power and energy independence.
