Wise Watering in Oklahoma’s High Heat and Drought
1.Check your local water provider for current restrictions (every other day, twice a week, etc.) Most providers allow for hand watering without restrictions.
2.Use a deep, soaking method for trees, shrubs and perennials. An in-ground system won’t be enough. Take special care with newly established plants.
3. Water early in the day.
4. Put down mulch to retain moisture and moderate soil temps.
5.Bermuda grass needs 1 inch of water per week (under normal summer conditions.)
6.Consider moving container plants to a shaded location until temperatures moderate. More watering may be needed.
7. Be patient- it can’t last forever!
