There's something you notice when you spend all day outdoors that most people don't.

A few good rains, a stretch of sunshine, and suddenly everything is growing. The grass doesn't just need mowing—it wants to grow. Trees fill out almost overnight, wildflowers show up where you didn't expect them, and fence rows seem a little greener every morning.

It's easy to look at another weekend of mowing and think, "Here we go again."

But today I caught myself thinking about how different the conversation would be if we hadn't gotten the rain.

The truth is, this is something to be thankful for.

Living in Oklahoma teaches you not to take a green summer for granted. There are years we'd give just about anything to see fields this healthy and yards this full of life.

So while the mower may be getting a workout, it's a pretty good problem to have.

Sometimes it's worth slowing down long enough to notice that what feels like another chore is also a reminder of God's provision. Rain still falls. The sun still rises. And life keeps pushing its way back through the ground.

Not every day has to teach us something profound.

🇺🇸 250 Years of Freedom 🇺🇸

This year, we celebrate a remarkable milestone—250 years since the birth of the United States of America.

As we reflect on the blessings of liberty, we're reminded of the words written by John Adams to his wife, Abigail, before independence was officially declared:

"It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more."

Adams believed that Independence Day should be more than a celebration—it should begin with gratitude to God for the gift of freedom. While he expected parades, bells, and celebrations, he placed "solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty" first.

As we commemorate 250 years of American independence, may we remember the sacrifices of those who secured our freedom, give thanks to God for His many blessings, and commit ourselves to being faithful stewards of the liberty we've inherited.
