Half of this locust fell in a storm. The half that remained standing was compromised with decay. A rigging line was set in the tree slightly lateral to the lay on the decayed side. These extra steps make for confident felling.

Murphy Tree has resumed work after a long pause due to deep snow. There is a lot of rescheduling to do. If you have booked work with Murphy Tree, expect a call/message in the next week or two to align on a new tentative date for your work. Roughly expect a 6-week delay (the length of the pause).

Tight quarters stump grinding.

This widowmaker was hung up in a neighboring tree with weak, bark included unions. It was not safe to climb so a lift was used. Ropes were used to keep it in control and lower it safely to the ground.

A curious case of genetic reversion. This dwarf dogwood has a specially cultivated internodal spacing of about 1" but suddenly began growing shoots with 6"+ spacing as is normal for the non-dwarf species. This kind of reversion of special characteristics can happen spontaneously and the only solution is to quickly remove those portions before they take over and disfigure the plant.

Directional pruning directs growth away from structures and utilities, allowing major limbs to be preserved with low maintenance.

Murphy Tree is pleased to announce it has added stump grinding to its service offerings. Our machine requires about 4 feet of egress to/from the stump. Temporary fence panel removal may be an option for back yards with small gates.
