Things to know for your septic system right now!!
We are currently experiencing abnormally large amounts of rain. Many systems in our area may not be capable of handling this amount of rain along with your normal usage. The drain field is designed to release water from your septic tank into the ground below. With the amount of rain that we are experiencing, many drain fields are flooding, meaning they are completely inundated with water and it has no where to go because the ground is also full of water. Sewage water will find its way out of your system. It may be that it bubbles up in your yard or worse in your home.
If you are on a septic system, please use as little water as you possibly can until we have dry weather.

-If sewage starts to come back into your house and you have a clean out outside, remove the cap so that everything will come up outside rather than flood your bathroom.
-Having your tank pumped will offer temporary relief if the rain keeps coming, which it looks like next week holds more of it.
Remember, just because you aren’t having problems yet, doesn’t mean you won’t. So take some of these steps now and help prevent a sewage disaster.
