From the Chief’s Desk,

Last night, at the Barboursville City Council meeting, Evening Shift Officers Chris Brent, Avery Meadows, Colten Price, and Matt Hall were presented with Letters of Commendation for going above and beyond.

The officers were dispatched to check on the welfare of Ms. Everetta Boyd after her daughter had been unable to contact her for two days. The officers searched around the outside of the home, looked through the windows, and discovered Ms. Boyd lying on the floor after suffering a stroke.

The officers made forced entry into the residence, assisted Ms. Boyd, and immediately requested EMS. Ms. Boyd was rushed to the hospital with a brain bleed and has since credited their actions with saving her life.

Police work is often about doing the little things well. In this case, paying attention to detail and taking a few extra minutes to look a little further made all the difference.

Dylan began with us part time last summer and has grown into a bigger role this year. He is great on the trimmer and has really developed his mowing techniques this spring.

Had a long weekend catching up, but it was well worth it! Church camp week is such a big part of our lives. So happy to spend a few days doing what we love with Bloomingdale Salem Baptist Church.

Last weekend we tackled a big renovation job for our friends at State Electric Supply Co.

Over a dozen trees and tons of bushes had taken over. We cleaned everything out and provided a simple, low maintenance rock bed that fully displays the incredible look of their building!

We definitely couldn’t have handled this one without the help of our tree man Jeff Porter. He provided masterful work in removing the bushes, cutting down the trees and grinding the stumps. He is a trustworthy pro and we highly recommend him for any tree services you might need! You can contact Jeff at (304) 380-5480.

For those paying attention, you’ve probably noticed someone missing off our crew.

Sutton made the prayerful decision to step away and pursue a calling in law enforcement. He spent about 6 months with Marshall University Campus Police Department, and is now currently a quarter of the way through training at the West Virginia State Police Academy where he is on pace to graduate in August!

We’re proud of his hard work and thankful for the times we had working together— just the four of us.

Rainy weekend is holding off our mowing operations, but we sure needed it!

On the bright side, we took this opportunity to check out several local small businesses in our area. Hill Tree Roastery, Magnolia On Main Cafe, Al's New York Pizza, and many others. The products are incredible and the people are wonderful.
