Last week, our team attended the ribbon cutting for Bangor Housing's Sunridge Senior Housing in Bangor, Maine, celebrating the completion of 50 new affordable apartments for adults age 55 and older.

Haley Ward provided civil engineering services, including site design and permitting, as well as land surveying and natural resources surveying for the project.

Access to safe, affordable housing is an ongoing challenge throughout Maine, and projects like Sunridge help address that need. These new apartments give older adults more opportunities to find housing they can afford while remaining in the community they call home.

We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this project to life and helping create more housing opportunities for our neighbors in the Bangor area.

We’re excited to welcome the team at CDW Consultants, Inc. to Haley Ward!

Based in Framingham, Massachusetts, CDW is an environmental and civil engineering firm that has been serving clients throughout Massachusetts and New England since 1990. Their team brings decades of experience in environmental services, civil engineering, permitting, brownfields, wetlands, and more.

Happy World Architecture Day!

Today is a chance to celebrate the architects and designers who turn ideas into spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional and built around the people who use them.

At Haley Ward, our architecture and interior design teams work alongside our engineers and other disciplines to bring unique projects to life. One great example is The Car Barn in Walpole, Massachusetts.

This 28,500-square-foot facility was designed for people who love cars, with high-end vehicle storage, detailing bays, a racing simulator, event space, and some pretty impressive lighting designed specifically to showcase the vehicles.

One of the biggest challenges was fitting as much storage as possible into a smaller footprint. Through creative planning and vertical storage, the facility can accommodate nearly twice the number of vehicles originally anticipated. That smaller footprint also eliminated the need for a planned stormwater management system, saving the client approximately $1 million in construction costs.

We think that's a pretty great example of architecture doing more than creating a great-looking building. It's about finding smart solutions that make a space work better for the people who use it.

October is Employee Ownership Month, a time to celebrate what it means to be an employee-owner and the role each of us plays in the success of our company.

We kicked things off yesterday with team lunches across our offices, plenty of good food, lots of laughs, and a little fun along the way. It was a great excuse to get together, enjoy some time with our coworkers, and celebrate being employee-owners.

And this is just the beginning! We have a whole month of activities, celebrations, and fun planned, so we’ll be sharing more as we go. Here’s to celebrating ownership, our people, and what makes Haley Ward special all month long!

There was plenty to celebrate at the ribbon cutting for the expanded Biddeford Primary School! The new addition brings PreK through Grade 2 students together on one early-learning campus, giving Biddeford’s youngest learners a place to learn, grow, and build connections from the very beginning.

Haley Ward was proud to provide civil engineering, MEP engineering, structural engineering, and surveying services for the $9 million expansion. With 16 new classrooms and learning spaces, an outdoor classroom, Head Start space, and even the Tiger Tail slide, this project is already making a difference for Biddeford families.

A new potato chip manufacturing facility is bringing jobs and economic activity to northern Maine.

Haley Ward was proud to partner with Buck Construction Inc, the project’s general contractor, on the development of Taste of Maine Potato Chips’ 92,000-square-foot facility at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. Our team provided surveying, natural resource surveys, site design, permitting, and public outreach services throughout the project.

Now in operation, the facility is connecting Maine-grown potatoes with a growing manufacturing operation while creating opportunities for local farmers, workers, and businesses and contributing to the continued redevelopment of the former Loring site.
