First pour in the books at the future Amazon distribution facility in Hermon, Maine! 🚧

Our crew completed the first concrete placement on this 60,000-square-foot facility being built on the former Bangor Drive-In site.
Once complete, the $17.5 million project will serve as a last-mile delivery station, helping move packages throughout the region.

NS Giles is excited and proud to be part of another major project in our community!

Last week, we welcomed a group of 8 students from the AGC Maine Construction Academy to our Morse Arena project at the University of Maine, Orono! 🚧

The students met leaders from both NS Giles and Consigli Construction. Led by NS Giles Operations Manager James Jordan, they got a firsthand look at life on an active construction site, learning about the work, planning, and teamwork that go into a project like this.

The AGC Maine Construction Academy helps introduce the next generation to careers in the skilled trades through hands-on learning and industry experience, and we're more than proud to be part of that journey.

We're looking forward to hosting these students on more of our sites in the coming weeks! ❤️💙

At our annual Memorial Day BBQ, President Shane Giles put our crew to the test 💪

Using a handheld dynamometer to measure grip strength, the competition got serious fast — with TWO Kinetic framing hammers on the line 🔨

After five finalists battled it out, these two came out on top:
🏆 Dawson Cochran – approx. 190
🏆 Carlos Macias – approx. 180

For more than 20 years, the NS Giles Memorial Day BBQ has been a tradition that brings the entire company together. 🇺🇸☀️

Out of the three gatherings that NS Giles has in a year (Memorial Day, Labor Day, and our Christmas Party), Memorial Day has always been President Shane Giles's favorite gathering:
“Everyone is in a great mood, the sun’s out, and the weather has changed.
Winters are tough, but when you get to Memorial Day, you have summer, nice weather, and a good handle on your workload. It’s a good feeling and a great time to get everyone fired up for a busy summer season.”

The BBQ is also a time to reflect on everything our team has accomplished, recognize new employees, celebrate those who have been with the company for years, and keep everyone informed as we head into our busy summer season ahead.

❤️💙 Most importantly, Memorial Day gives us a chance to appreciate the holiday and remember the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country.

This project is set to wrap up at the end of the summer and will have an amazing impact on the greater Bangor community.

Wesley (Wes) has been part of the NS Giles team for 5 years, and he says that NS Giles is great company to work for!

Some fun facts about Wes: He came to us with a background in carpentry, and when he’s not on the job site, he likes to spend time with his family and snowsled during our slower seasons.
